Design: The Prop
Materials: ABS translucent-frosted plastic
Designer: Nicholas Pajerski & Justin Brouillette
"The Prop is a well designed, affordable and portable laptop stand. Functionally, the Prop slightly lifts your laptop off any surface, creating better airflow and improved ergonomics. It disassembles quickly and can be stored compactly in your desk drawer or bag. Unlike other bulky laptop stands and non-portable cooling devices, the Prop is designed to travel and work in every situation (salad tongs?)."

"It ships in a 2-inch wide tube and we suggest you reuse it for a great storage container. Whether you want to sit on the floor and browse the internet or move to your desk and type a paper, the Prop will keep your laptop ergonomically elevated. Simply stated, the Prop is a sexy device to help cool your laptop anywhere a laptop was meant to go.

Sprout Side Table
I have been to the site and tried to preorder one, but the buy button isn't active. I love it! And it's so simple.
When all else fails, read the directions. Went through Facebook, on preorder.
Thanks for the compliments! Sorry if that link is not working quite right. We will try to fix it. If you would like a direct link to Pre-Order your Prop, try this:

Would like to see metal or wood.
Unless that plastic is 100% recycled?
This is such a simple and efficacious design.
I recall reading somewhere that lifting the back of the keyboard isn't very ergonomic as it can force you to angle your wrist up.
Hmmm. I prop my laptop up on a thick paperback book. Not sure why it would be better to buy something to do the same thing.
@Jenn, we feel the same. Our goal is to produce the Prop with recycled plastic content. It's still not the norm in the manufacturing industry so it's a challenge.
@Kevin, I think I have read the same article; nevertheless if you try out a Prop, I bet you'll find it more comfortable than without!
@Martigny, That is exactly where we started from when designing this. But the question is, can you carry that thick paperback book around with you like you can a laptop?
Ergonomically speaking (I've studied this), the correct angle for a keyboard is either flat or with the front higher than the back. The idea is not to flex your wrist (bending it back) when keyboarding but to keep the wrist in neutral position or even slightly bent forward. Whenever I sit down at a desktop computer, the first thing I do is pop those little legs on the keyboard down. So, don't do this for your laptop unless you want carpal tunnel syndrome. Of course sitting at the right height with knees slightly lower than your hips, and with the screen either at or below eye level, is also important.
@CityChik, this may be technically true, but we find it much more comfortable to use a Prop (we have been using them for over two years) and find no more aggravation than without. You might find it appeasing that you can just as easily flip your laptop around on the Prop and use it that way. Checkout this video at the end you it being used that way.

Thanks for the comments.
I think this is a clever idea! It is light weight and compact...easy to put together and to tote. When I travel for work I don't have to worry about bring a thick book along...not only is the book heavier but also cumbersome. Thanks for making a GREAT product!
Simple, elegant, easy to transport. Price point looks way off. 3 4 16 would work for me:)
You guys have come up with something quite brilliant. Like CityChick, I too, have also done enormous research on the subject of posture and more specifically working conditions posture and environment. There are plenty of people who "ASSume" that CTS is caused by or linked to elevated keyboards and wrist angles, however, the number of people who report feeling less pain after several hours of typing with an elevated keyboard is staggering. There were a couple studies done on this and 95% of people said they felt they could type longer when they elevated the back of their keyboard as opposed to having it flat. The same people were also tested with the keyboard elevated the opposite way and although they didn't complain about wrist pain they did report that their fingers became tired more quickly. The same study also monitored typo's and typing speed and almost every person was more efficient and accurate when the back of the keyboard was elevated. Honestly, if you think about it logically, elevating the front of the keyboard would require you to hold the weight of your arms and hands using your own strength or you would need a special table that had a hole cut out for the back of you keyboard so as to lower the back without raising the front.
On a whole different note, It's a proven fact that your laptop battery will last significantly longer when elevated even a quarter of an inch, because of how much less heat is has to absorb.
Good product guys
easy, simple and great idea.
I've been searching for something lightweight and portable, and this DEFINITELY fits the bill - great idea, can't wait to try it out!
A brilliant design that shows a lot of ingenuity. (Though, like Jenn, I wouldn't buy it while made of virgin plastic.)
But one thing made me giggle. The description says you can use it "anywhere a laptop was meant to go", but I really can't imagine ever using it on my lap, which is arguable exactly where a lap top was meant to go. Just saying.
Love it! do you ship to Australia?

Thanks
Ok, this seems functional and neat. However, it's status as ergonomical is questionable, as some have pointed out. Most importantly, this item does not belong in this category. How is this home decor? I think having this product in this group of decor is too much of a stretch.
This would lift up my laptop enough for it not to overheat - and that alone makes it worth it. I'm tired of propping up my laptop on books and things in weird ways to let the stupid fans have air. Even if it sucks for typing, it would still be well worth it to me to have something that keeps my laptop breathing!
