A new season of MTV's The Real World started last week. We saw the inside of the Dupont Circle house before MTV redecorated. The house now includes a recreated oval office, Presidential-themed bedrooms, and lots of red, white, and blue.
Have you seen The Real World DC? What do you think of the house decor? Which bedroom would you choose: Lincoln, Reagan, Kennedy, or Washington?

I wasn't a fan. Just watched for a hot minute- as always, too much stuff going on.
I don't think I have room in my head for this AND Jersey Shore.
Jersey Shore, Good Lord. I take a Valtrex everytime I flip past that show...just in case.
does mtv sell the house now? I would think they could give tours before that happened
LOL Volvoguy! Couldn't have said it better myself.
Anyway, there is way too much IKEA in that apartment.
Well, usually someone gets ridiculously drunk and jumps on the coffee table so no use in furnishing with antiques. As usual, garish colors. I don't find it appealing.
in the early years, the ikea was cool because most places in the us weren't near one and the bright colors were cool. it's not like the residents are going to respect the place.
Nice to see wallpaper being used on such a young show! Which paper company is featured?!
I think MTV will regret putting in wall-to-wall carpeting.
I love color, but these rooms give me a headache.
Once again - Decorating for the small screen doesn't equate to decorating for real life.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Somebody needs to euthanize MTV Real World NOW.
The rooms are a mess. There are some great real world houses (paris!) and this one is just terrible. DC has such great architectural and design character and the decorators could have borrowed a lot of elements from the city in putting together the space. too bad. the stripes on the wall are truly awful. I remember one scene of a room where the stripes were angled on the wall. :cringe:
Those guys and girls on Real World don't even know who some of those presidents are! They are just there to PARTY.
Yeah, I agree with the wall-to-wall carpeting being a bad idea. I would sooner trust that floor to a pack of unhousebroken puppies.
Holy Ikea, Batman! While I've clearly been in the dark since I had no idea they were still doing real worlds, has any one else noticed the abundance of ikea on tv? Project runway used it last season like it was its job. Are the shows just being budget savvy, or is Ikea striking deals to turn these places into showrooms?
I rarely post dissenting comments but I have to agree with Scoot on this one. Those rooms are giving me a migraine.
I take back what I said. I hadn't thought of the "They're all STD-riddled, irresponsible teenagers who have no respect for property." Maybe IKEA is too nice for that lot.
I saw the house over a month ago. NBC 4 showed it but they focused on all the overly themed cliche' DC things in the house and of course the showers. So I wasn't a fan from the beginning. I thought it was as bad as *shudder* their Denver house. I know I know nothing could be that bad. Eventually MTV posted a house tour online and I watched a different version of the tour. I have to sa,y with such low expectations, the house got a lot better. It's still rots that it is such a theme house that it in no way encapsulates the style of DC. However it's a lot better than my first impression. I have to say I like the wallpaper all over the house and the phone in the (and I hate to say this) Rose Garden themed phone room. I'd pick the Kennedy room. That's whe one with the bed in the nook right? There is no way I'd sleep in the Reagan bedroom. BAH! Who wants to wake up with that grizzled old man looking down on you. How could you sleep?
