It seems we have a bit of a thing for toilets here. Self cleaning ones, add on bidets and for the burrito and chili lovers out there, deodorizing toilet seats. The thing with all of these toilets seats though is that they need a power source, something that doesn't tend to be easily accessible by the toilet. But while they can clean themselves, clean you and keep you warm, they don't address the age old couples conundrum....keeping the toilet seat down.
So it is with great interest that we came across this student project out of Denmark. These four guys designed a toilet that puts the seat down automatically after it is flushed. No extra electricity required. Unfortunately there are no details on how this technically works. A mini hydraulic system from the flushing water perhaps? Sign me up.

The Relationship Saver: Sit to Pee
It's nice to see that technology will liberate us from the need to abandon our petty need to have everything just the way we want it and from developing flexibility when living with others.
Is it really so hard to develop the habit of checking the position of the toilet seat before you use it? I've been married for 20 years and my husband and I have never fought over (or even bothered to discuss) this issue. I check and put it down. He puts it up. Problem solved without the need for new inventions. But I guess it's easier to invent something than to accommodate the person you love in even the smallest possible way. :-p
Orchid64, you said this so well. While I like to close the toilet lid as an aesthetic choice, that conundrum of lowering the lid for ladies is an outdated, sexist demand.
