Fruit on the wall. The Ring was one of many entries to designboom's Ceramics for Breakfast contest. And while we remember George Watson's winning toaster, there are lots of designs we missed.
We dislike bruised fruit (apples are out) so we might suggest this piece for tennis balls when you tire of oranges!

I can't decide whether it reminds me more of a toilet seat or a life preserver. But, it is a unique idea.
Unique maybe, but I don't find it at all appealing.... or practical. I agree it's reminiscent of either a toilet seat or a life preserver, neither of which I really want my fruit residing in. And it's impossible to tell whether or not the fruit half way up the ring is going bad. There's no way to pick and choose among the fruit for the one most "ideal" for eating at the moment. Not a very good design at all, though it is "interesting".
I think it's beautiful, but fruit does bruise and ooze, and this looks like it would be very tough to clean.
I think this would be fun at a club or juice bar where they go through lots of lemons and limes. In my home.....no.
I reminded me of a life preserver too!!
I'm immediately tempted to fill one with something completely other... jeweled fake fruit, pool balls, plastic Easter eggs... anything roundish that would cause people to do a little double-take when they saw it peeping through the openings.
That picture is a wierd, sleek parallel universe of my old closet, where I sued to store a cat toy that looks EXACTLY like that ring (the kind where there's one plastic ball in there that the cat can push around the ring). It's knd of freaking me out.
