The RotariPhone iPod Dock Concept

We were probably amongst the last generation who grew up with the rotary telephone in our homes. We remember the heft and satisfaction of dialing using the original phone dialing system, alongside the mechanical ring. Looks like designer Alan Bader shares our nostalgic affinity for the rotary dial phone, but not for the purpose of placing calls, but for listening to music...

The RotariPhone is a concept designed to work as an iPod dock and speaker system, withe the handset cradle offering an iPod dock and the handset itself operating as two speaker system. Where the rotary dial once would have been now is a power and volume control for the sound system. It's just too bad it's not designed to work with the iPhone for phone calls too. We'd love to be able to dial the iPhone wit a mechanical dial, but the digital version will have to suffice for now.
