Watching the royal wedding today, lots of details from the Westminster Abbey ceremony stood out as possible inspirations for the home. Here are a few:
Black and white check: How could you miss the checked flooring of the Abbey in those aerial shots of the wedding? The black and white pattern accented with red is bold and classic, like the room by British designer James Merrell pictured in the first image above.
Forest-like greens indoors: We loved the indigenous trees lining the aisle inside the Abbey. Bring the forest inside of your home with large branches as seen in the third image above, decorated by Jackson Paige Interiors.
Red accents: The small red lamps that line the choir of the Abbey are a small detail that really stands out. For something similar at home, check out the buffet lamps at The Brass Gallery, $258.

I saw it and thought of AT immediately.
Wow, running this story into the ground.
i also commented to my fiance how much i liked the "little red lamps" in the choir booth, dejavu?
Please, I'm begging you, enough with the royal garbage! Don't we have enough useless rich twits over here in the U.S.?
do you think there's a portion of the u.s. that wants to return to monarchy?
God Save Everyone! Even non-royalists.
The US never HAD a monarchy, so you can't really return to it, can you?
Not everyone who reads AT is American, and as a major event, with millions watching, why can't someone comment on design inspiration they received.
People may complain about there being too much talk of the royal wedding, but what I'm sick of is all the people complaining about it. If you don't like it don't watch it or read about it. Simple. Why bring other people down with your negativity?
well said, bkk!
The lamps in the choir are a common feature in large English churches and cathedrals. They often have dark shades (in red, blue, or black) in order to provide a very specific type of directional lighting, especially for the service of Choral Evensong in the later afternoon/early evening: the lamps allow the choristers to see their music, but the dark shades simultaneously keep their faces somewhat unlit (the better to underscore the point that the choral service music is not a performance of various individuals, but rather a corporate musical offering to the divine). It was a practice originally suited to candlelight, but now almost all of the lamps are electric - which is good, because, you know, hey, no candlewax on the choir books and stuff.
We featured decor inspired by the royal wedding too! See crown jeweled wallpaper, a queen clock, a tiara-shaped wall hook, and more here: http://blog.17thandriggs.com/2011/04/trendy-tuesdays-royal-wedding-fever/
The 'forest-like greens interior' was incorrectly credited. The interior was done by Jessica Helgerson Interior Design. http://www.jhinteriordesign.com/
Well said The March Hare.
