For most of us who've owned metal furniture in the past, the goal was to keep it from rusting. If it sat outside you might have occasionally dried it off after a rain or made sure the paint job stayed flawless to prevent those burnt red speckles from showing through. But this bench is quite literally the opposite.

The Rustic Bench from Bettina Nissen Design is made from stainless steel and a portion of it goes untreated. As the bench ages and comes into contact with the elements a natural design emerges as it rusts. It creates what they're calling "living furniture" and is the first in a line of many.

We love the look, the smooth clean lines with that little twist of edginess or rather nature just taking its course. We can't wait to see the next pieces in the line, let alone spot them in the wild. Maybe our old deck furniture isn't rusty after all... it's just living?
