Yes, it is everywhere. But I love the Saarinen tulip table. It is beautiful and elegant but also incredibly practical. Not even a Sharpie has marred our white laminate version. But the other day a friend said she was considering the black version (in granite or marble). I was having a hard time visualizing the black tulip table in a real dining room, having only seen it pictured alone.
A web search produced a surprisingly small number of images. What do you think of the black Saarinen table? Is it sleek and modern and funky or too gloomy and masculine?

I think the black tulip table is purely embodies elegance, like a beautiful black swan. I would consider giving away my first born for one ;)
I really love all of the 'black' home fashion a t m so this is really appealing. I'm not sure if i would give up a daughter (lol Megan) but the second last pic IS VERY nice. :)
You're having a hard time visualizing it after all of these images? That first one is straight up elegance. I love that room, and the table. It looks perfect together.
Yes! I am currently in the market for one of these. Any ideas for the best deals? Knockoffs acceptable.
Breathtaking... So gorgeous I googled it immediately to see where I could find one.
Not really the correct usage of "elusive," but I get what you're saying.
it is gorgeous but not sure with my decorating skills I could make the black work. The Saarinen table and chairs are my dream dining room.
Would the black Sarrinen table look good paired with the Ghost chairs.?
Love it! The white ones always remind me of a plastic Barbie table (maybe because my Barbie playhouse from childhood had one...), but the black looks gorgeous!
I've always liked the Saarinen Table but wasn't really in love with it. Until now. That version in black is just love at first sight for me. Swoon!
I have a side table in white marble that I inherited from my parents. I think it ranks in the top 10 most beautiful tables ever designed. It's functional sculpture - I can look at it for hours. It's so serene.
The one thing many knock-offs don't have is the same top edge, which slants in toward the base and contributes to the table's perfection.
I'd take it in any color.
That first room is gorgeous.
I love the black marble oval version, but it's too wide for my space so I went with a blu dot strut in watermelon instead. I love it, but I still sigh every time I see one at the Room & Board outlet.
How can something so... curvy (and... shiny, as opposed to matte), really be considered masculine? o.O
