There was this Recycled Blankets Polar Bear rug and this other Global Warming Rug, with a lone stranded polar bear incorporated into the floor cover design to milk out our bleeding heart, tree-huggin' sympathies. But we're going to have to give it to Chaiyut Plypetch of Propaganda for topping both those designs with his bath tub stopper, The Polar Bear, reminding us somewhere out there global warming isn't so much a debate as a reality...
There's also another design for your cup of ice cold beverage. Other thought provoking and occasionally silly design at their website (our favourite design is their oversized matchstick floor lamp).

so sad... i love it... save the polar bears!
Brilliant!
Just like Big Window Challenge contestant #2 Jane Mount's polar bear drawing by Shawn Creedan... beautiful reminder to save this beloved marine mammal!!
"Endangered, save the world" art & design is the new trend.
I think it's great. We all contribute a piece to the big picture!
Makes me want to cry. Very sad indeed!
Love the tub drain stopper. Great concept. The bear is so cute.
How about the fact that taking a hot bath is a hugely wasteful endeavor? The energy used to heat the 20-35 gallons of water used in a bath is a waste of energy. The tub-stopper is quite poignant in that sense!
OMG that's so cute!!!
Sheesh. Life is depressing enough without the reminder of the plight of the polar bear while taking a bath. I prefer a few moments of quiet reflection, or better yet, no thoughts at all when relaxing in the tub.
I bet the people who have this tub stopper have photos of bludgeoned baby seals on their kitchen walls and charts showing the increase in the earth's average temperatures posted on the ceiling over their bed. There are enough hours in the day to worry about the world. I think it's okay to take a break in the bath.
Blandwagon---
Labels, labels, labels. Blah.
FACT: IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group reclassified the polar bears as "vulnerable" species on the IUCN's Red list of Endangered Species in 2005. This is a serious label of concern, classifying the polar bear as a marine mammal at risk of *extinction*. They are not classified "endangered" strictly because Canada's Inuit people still traditionally hunt the bear (within restrict measures).
The polar bear is Canada's beloved northern marine mammal (we have roughly two-thirds of the global population).
Polar bears are a special-concern, at-risk species here in Canada. The threatened bear is an iconic symbol of Canada's far north as well as the effects of climate change on the sensitive Arctic environment. Populations are showing signs of severe stress due to shrinking sea ice. Their numbers are drastically declining.
The polar bear is the first species to become colloquially labelled endangered due to global warming.
As such, the polar bear is metaphoric. A symbol of our dire times. And that is enough to make me do *my part* in saving this precious earth.
Also,
M! --- I like to clean myself with water.
Shower with the plug and then bath! That is doubly eco-friendly!! haha.
My baths are actually more resourceful than my showers. Just ask my roommate! (:
i feel like that polar bear right now.
i live in australia, where it's summer right now. last night, my city had its hottest overnight temp on record. today the temperature reached 45C or 113F for you northern americans.
where's my bath plug?
That just breaks my heart and brings me anger and tears.
That makes me want to cry.
A brilliant design!
oh, darling, i would just cry in my bathtub all day long. not that that would be any different from what i do already.
propoganda.
psst red.door.read...Canadians use celsius too!! I don't understand farenheit. hehe.
Blandwagon-- what is with your grudge against the polar bear?
It is something Canadian? You not like animals? Or are you one of those climate sceptics?
The polar bear is a threatened species! Endangered because of climate change/global warming! Face the facts! Do you not research the truth before posting comments?!
Get over it and carry on...
Skeptics of global warming believe that global warming is not an environmental problem. They think that the recent increase in the earth's temperature is no cause for alarm, and they believe that earth's coastlines and polar ice caps are not in danger of disappearing. They believe the polar bears are not in peril.
Sounds like the post analyst here by the name of "blandwagon". A global-warming agnostic.
Sorry but this is not the thread to get on your soapbox and preach your junkscience by telling us the world is not in distress because of OUR actions. Give us a break!
Climate change and the threat to the polar bear habitat is a fact, not a feeling!!
Gregory summed it up nicely:
"The Polar Bear, reminding us somewhere out there global warming isn't so much a debate as a *reality*..."
=(or perhaps us Canadians are just a wee bit more sensitive to the polar bears' existence since the majority of them exist on our land!!)
yikes. blandwagon is being burned at the stake for being a disparaging nonbeliever! lucky for them this isn't re-nest.com! ha!
Come on folks, let's keep it nice and keep our heads cool. The ice caps are melting fast as enough as it is without us all losing our cool :)
M!, I hope you never suffer from fibromyalgia. Some days, the only thing that makes my suffering manageable is being able to take a long, hot bath.
The polar bears are endangered! They are classified as "vulnerable" which means they are an at-risk species! Did you not read or understand what bccanada wrote!? Up in northern Canada where the polar bear inhabits they are threatened by extinction because of our collective carelessness and lack of insight. He/she did their research! Just read the latest National Geographic or David Suzuki article re: the polar bear plight.
Goodness, Blandwagon get your head out of the clouds! No need to bite over the facts.
Sorry, Gregory, but ignorance gets to me esp when it's about the beloved home we all share called EARTH!
Even he acknowledges the name of the game (we thank you). ;-)
Oh Oh. I am forced to correct someone's insensible error. So mind me.
Who was discussing polar bears & religion?!?!? I see nothing of the sort.
(def) Agnostic: "asserting the uncertainty of all claims to knowledge"
That is grammatically correct usage re: the facts surrounding topic of discussion, asserting the uncertainty of all claims to global warming, environmental change et cetera. (the ole English minor comes out in me! yah!)
I reckon ye ole "Blandwagon" is a deep southerner. Lives under the sun. The hot dry desert. Resides as far away as possible from any melting icecaps. Just an assumption based on their blind half-knowledge. (: Pardon the stereotype. I am kidding.
Seriously though folks, ignore those types. All that matters is your own beliefs. Remember Darwin's Survival of the Fittest? Exactly (heehee)
I do adore this polar bear replica. Darling little bathroom accessory. Thought-provoking indeed.
Now everyone smile. (:
:( this is sad.
