If you are looking for a simple and efficient way of having your iPhone/iPod stand in front of you without spending any money, look no further, because this hack is just pure genius.
Sometimes the greatest ideas are just lying right in front of you. It takes just someone to make the leap and get something together. Take this little hack, which uses a mini DV tape case. We are sure that if you've had cassette tapes before, you might have used the cases in a similar fashion, to help holding something. Dan Lane of London actually discovered that his iPhone is a perfect match for the width of those old mini DV tape cases.
If you are unfamiliar with the min DV format, they are just a kind of tape that goes into camcorders. Oddly enough, the mini DV tape cases work great for iPhone and iPods. It's also perfect the way that the case holds the iPhone at an angle, making it great for viewing. So in order to get this stand, go scour your old mini DV tapes cases. You'll find one that matches.

absolutely ingenious
Pure genius is right! Totally brilliant and simple, I love it.
"The Simplest and Most Efficient..." would make more sense!
But IS IT the most efficient? It has no place to hook up the charger/USB connector... so it's very efficient, but NOT the MOST efficient. Get it right WordBitch! lol
Now this is called real creativity. Wow you are amazing man. I never got this idea. Thanks a bunch!

Nice simple idea... but I just bought the weaseleasel for my smartphone. It has a hanger for the car and an easel to stand the smartphone in... both horizontally and vertically. You wouldn't believe the usage its been getting. I also ordered some for stocking stuffers, they are just so practical . Go to weaseleasel.com and take a look!
