In our humble opinion, no desktop computer is complete without a sleek space-saving keyboard hideout. Even better, a keyboard hideout with 6 USB ports.
The Space Bar is a desk accessory that basically functions as a garage for your keyboard.
Stow your (up to) 18" long by 1.5" high keyboard underneath and use it's USB-port-equipped shelf to hold and plug in your necessary desktop knickknacks; like a mouse, flash drive or digital camera. And with the aluminum it's obviously a perfect fit for Mac.
It's a cool design but it's part of an even cooler idea: It's posted on the Quirky community site. If you're not familiar, that means that a young budding designer (and his collaborators) designed this as a concept. If enough people commit to ordering the product, it will get manufactured and shipped out. No consumers are charged for anything until the design goes into the manufacturing phase.
The Quirky Web site is doing a pre-sale of about 600 units, so if this is just what you've been needing for your desk, head on over and pick one up for $42.

Oh I have to measure the space I have but I think I might have to sign up for the pre order for this one. It is just too fantastic for my space and I love the ports. I always need more USB ports. (I currently have 2 8hubs.) And it would let me store my keyboard where I really want to (underneath the mini) but can't currently.
the keyboard goes under the monitor.
I suppose it would be useful with a mini, but I simply keep mine under my iMac...along with the mouse and remote. It's free and looks good.
I saw this over at Engadget.
A lot of folks were pointing out that you probably wouldn't be able to rest a monitor on it (notice how the photo has it in front of the display/computer).
Also, the USB hub isn't powered, so those 6 ports won't be usable by anything requiring more juice, like a hard drive, DVD drive or speakers.
It's not actually being produced yet, so maybe they'll change their specs?
If not, the slimkey looks to be a much better product and is available now:

A very similar product already exists. I have had it bookmarked for a few months now.

I assumed this was an updated version.
