• Cure Clock: Next Monday
• Assignment: Buy or borrow the book and read to page 51
Yes! The time has finally come. The Spring Cure 2010 is launching next Monday (3/15), and there's no time like the present to make your home beautiful and healthy. It's not just about organizing your home; it's about managing your consumption and reducing the amount of "stuff" you have. It's about discovering what you love and need in your home and forming new habits that will help you live lighter, cleaner, and better.
The Cure is essentially 8 weeks of assignments that help you focus on making your home a place you love to be in. We post assignments and updates 3x a week on the site and ask that you to submit photos of your progress to our Flickr page so that we can all share in the process. Together we help motivate and inspire one another throughout the 8 weeks. And don't worry, none of us has ever done it perfectly, but we've all made progress and that's what's important. Your home should be a restful and welcoming retreat: healthy, uncluttered, comfortable. With most of us paring down and spending more time at home it's more important than ever to have a space to unwind and spend time alone or with friends. No matter the size and current state of your home, you can make it into a place you love to be.
Our overall goal? To invest in our own homes through either elbow grease, money or both and make our own homes beautiful, healthy and organized.
Here's how it all works:
• One Cure page to tie together all the posts.
• Three cure emails per week so you can stay in touch with us even if you don't make it to the blog.
• One Cure Discussion Board so that you can chat and share your questions and thoughts throughout the process!

That's a great motivator idea! & I absolutely love the featured image. I'm big on statement pillows & enjoy making them for my home & for others: http://www.etsy.com/shop/craftscafe?section_id=6648869
I would love to do the cure. I am moving though and won't be in my new place till the 20th. Are there rules? (sorry if it's a dumb question) Wanted to do the fall cure but found out too late.
Just signed up and posted pics! Full of energy now and hopeful it stays....Good luck to everyone!
Raring to go! As I type my husb and I are in contract on our very first home, which won't be vacant for a couple of months, but surely NOW is the time to purge purge purge rather than pay to move things we're not ultimately going to keep.
Such Timing! I was planning on doing it myself next week anyway!
Now I'll have people along for the ride :)
I've already made a dent, but this will be good for getting some of those lingering projects done.
I'm in the same boat as tasterspoon.
Aww, I JUST did the cure, from the book! Well, okay, my closets still need some work....would a big hall closet count as a one-room cure? ;)
Yes! Just in time for the in-laws to visit! Perfect timing! :D And I have money for this cure so I can actually participate!!!
Sigh! I already have perfection! ;^)
Isn't there a PDF download available? Or do I have to buy a fancy gadget like kindle? Oh the irony.... "it's about managing your consumption and reducing the amount of "stuff" you have." I really don't want to actually buy a physical copy or an electronic book reader.
reptilerobots, meet Public Library.
It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone who has discussed decluttering, etc., but never actually done it.
Public libraries? That's socialist!! Just kidding - thanks for the reminder. Looks like they have it.
I'm like Brianna, I was about to do this on my own!! Just came to the website to download the worksheets and saw it's sign up time :)
i just requested a copy of the book from my library! very excited. i guess i'm a socialist.
Oh, I need The Cure now more than ever!
I move into a new apartment on April 1st, but we're going to start painting on the 20th. Oh... and I say we because my boyfriend is moving with me. :)
Our new apartment is larger than both of our current apartments combined (which isn't really saying much, so don't be jealous) and we're not keeping any of his furniture, so we shouldn't have much to worry about in terms of clutter. I just love having The Cure team to keep me going and give me loads and loads of inspiration.
I'm joining. My husband and I have been in our first home for a few months now and we're still very disorganized, unfocused, and completely overwhelmed. To start with I'm going to concentrate on getting the bedroom the way we want it, because I really want us to have somewhere restful to spend our nights. But at the same time, I'll be working on a whole house deep-clean, mainly for organization and decluttering purposes.
I got the book at the library this week and I'm inspired already!
@tasterspoon & cherrybomb - I'm also moving (lease is up May 31st) and using the cure as a way to clean, purge, and organize what's left to make the moving easier on us. It takes away a lot of the fun design/improvement projects and leaves you with just the nitty gritty hard work ones, but it's worth it!
@myredshoelace - Of course there are rules. And of course you don't have to follow them! This isn't about escaping the apartment therapy police, it's about making your place a nicer place to live!
I think the first week is largely about vacuuming the whole place, which should already be done for you, so your timing might be pretty good after all.
I made it through half of the Fall Cure in my old apartment, I'm in a brand new one now and ready to make it my own!
One question though, are the Forums going to be set up any differently this time? I think last fall there were quite a few of us wishing for a more organized format instead of just the normal list of comments. For instance if someone asks a question, others are able to respond directly to that without having to do an @so-and-so. And then the next person's question would have their own thread. Just a suggestion, I'm no webmaster.
Sign-up is closed?! boo! This sounds really fun and I would love to participate.
I'm gearing up to start the de-cluttering!!! I have started the cleanse 3 times and petered out rather quickly. This time I'm going to not let the clutter win.
@fanShay45: Sign-up just opened with less than 400 curees still. Last year there were around 2000-3000 if I'm not mistaken, so you'll be able to sign up for another week or so I think.
I'm so in. Have many projects in mind and all of them really need to get done. Great!
@Emi8608: I agree completely. It's not just the Cure forum, but the whole site in my opinion. I hope there will be a change coming soon.
My suggestion is that everyone use the flickr page for discussions. Anyone can start a topic, so it makes things much easier than a huge, jumbled list.
Go forth and discuss!

we are doing it this time. our apartment is eating us from the inside out. time for the cure. i know the to-do list shall be long, but we will tackle it.
I've signed up for this in the past but lost steam early on. I always want to sign up, I have plenty of time on my hands these days, but I just don't know if I have the energy. I have the book though, so maybe I will try again.
Ah, I'm in the Southern Hemisphere, so need to do an autumn cure. I'm not sure the book has made it to our libraries yet and I'm on a limit my consumption drive at the mo'. Might just have to look over your shoulders and hack away this time...
[Hm, I'm afraid some spam messages sneaked in this thread...]
Today's the beginning of week 3 of my one-room remedy :) When I felt like starting I realized there was an added bonus: if I stay behind I'll use the site as a motivation to catch up ;)
I'm doing the living-room, and oh if it needed some therapy.
I also started a photoblog to help me keep in track; it's not spectacular or very useful to others, but I enjoy writing it.

Cheers
Am very excited to be doing this again. First time round was Fall 2009 and achieved some lasting changes, but time to take it a step forward and tackle some other areas.
Sadly, I have a tiny budget for this cure. So lots of thinking outside the box.
I'll be tracking my progress on my blog below (there is an apartment therapy cure section for all related posts).

Good luck to all - see you in the flickr pool :)
Well I will just participate to the extent of my energies. I'm 20 weeks pregnant, so I'll try to kick butt on some old projects. :)
synchronicity!i just picked up my copy of apartment therapy and was thinking it would be a good time of year to have a go. The last time I tried it wasn't super successful but I feel like I have a more organized vision this time.
making settlement tomorrow on a 2 bedroom condo. i downsized from a house on the east coast 4 years ago-gave away everything-moved to bay area for 2 years-lost large portion of nestegg(semi retired) now my first condo back east-bay area too expensive. nothing helps the slimming down of possessions like a move. things, so many things, but we do love our stuff. but from experience how pleasing to have just a small amount of things around us. good luck to all. obi
Just signed up! I have a few unfinished tasks - finish my bathroom remodel, hang a big mirror in my bedroom, and overall declutter. I'm taking pictures tomorrow of my current place and will post on Flickr.
I can't sign up ...
I just try again but I always can't sign up for the spring cure ! Somebody can help me please ?
@Guillaume: Have you checked the box saying "Yes" at the bottom of this page? http://cure.apartmenttherapy.com/2010/spring/main/signup
Once you've checked the box, a form will open below. Can you find it?
@Ninakk : Thanks for your help but my problem was the site didn't open but now it works, i'm signed up.
Does anyone know if/how I can get the RSS feed for just the Spring Cure posts? I currently get the RSS feed just for ATDC and don't want to have to expand to the main RSS (too overwhelming). Thanks!
I just signed up I am excited! I did the fall cure unofficially (I began when sign up had already closed, but I followed along fairly well). I am glad to be starting this one at the beginning. I moved into a new short-term place recently and haven't finished putting everything away yet and getting settled in. So this will be a good motivation for me. I may only be planning on living here a couple more months but I still want it to feel like home until then, and I have been feeling burdened by all the "stuff" I have. Especially with the thought of moving soon in mind, it would be nice to really pare down to the essentials and declutter to make the next move easier. I have way too many disorganized papers, family momentos, old notebooks, wall art I no longer love sitting in the closet, etc. I did just get a new dresser to replace my boyfriend's old Ikea one, so I'm glad that I am starting off the Cure with an improvement I've been wanting to make for a long time.
I want to follow you all, but I am too chicken to officially sign up - I did last year and failed miserably. We're just about to put our house up for sale so this is great timing. Looking forward to seeing all the great work you guys do!
I failed last year me too Tallulah but I decide to try again this year. But it's worst than last year because we moved to a bigger house ... I keep hope to succeed !
I love the idea of combining spring cleaning and re-decorating all at once!
