Week 6 and talk about Light Therapy is hands down, my favorite week of the Cure process. Great lighting showcases all of your hard work and transforms a drab space to a real thing of beauty. It can be difficult to break out of the typical lighting mold of a single harsh overhead light with a sidekick lamp near by. This set up rarely works out and this week, we'd like to feature fabulous lighting ideas we've seen so far in our Spring Cure Flickr Pool!
Perfect Pendants
First Row, Left To Right
• thefarmersdaughter: has two pendants in the dining room as well as a window close by. When it comes to lighting, the more the merrier as long as it isn't shining directly in your eye!
• adriantwright: has installed these old school pendants above different work areas in the kitchen. Individually they can feel a little small, but when there's several in the room, they make for a great look!
• Steph 123: has a trio of pendants hanging about the dining room table. We love the extra bright space and we're pretty sure the cat enjoys them too!
• cloudyweathergirl: found this pretty pendant down under and did some diy to make it as glamorous as it could be. The dimmer is all the way down, just imagine when it's turned up! How lovely!
• decent_mammal: has a low hung globe pendant over the table. Even though this might not seem like quite enough light, those window fill in the extra oompf needed!
Lovely Lamps
Second Row, Left To Right
• Kathorden: has a lamp in the entryway instead of relying on a single overhead pendant. It gives a touch of warmth and makes the space inviting instead of harsh.
• thefarmersdaughter: has a great mid-century lighting find and you can believe that lamp only ran her $3?!
• Joymich: has dualing bedside lamps that create a wonderful glow from top to bottom and don't leave you staring at the lightbulb when you're curled up in bed.
• at143tv: has a tall lamp that balances out the large print sitting next to it. Anything smaller would have felt out of scale and we think it's just the right size for the space!
• k2yhe: has a unique lamp behind the sofa. It's perfect for reading and won't glare in your eye when relaxing and reading a book or two.

So nice to see my entryway here. It's a struggle in my house over lighting since my husband "just doesn't understand why we need so many lamps!" He is of the breed of men who think the overhead light that came with the ceiling fan in our rental is just fine.
Little does he know there is another lamp on its way from Virginia. Found it at a consignment store and my dad is shuttling it down for me. :)
Nice to see my lights up here (I'm the farmersdaughter) but I do need to say that deer doesn't live on my table- it was being moved since I'm selling it...
It's hard to look at the lighting with that deer head in the first picture.
I am doing a one room cure (well, four, really.) The first room is finally done... I think! What do you think? --

(sorry for the double post - where's the edit feature when I need it?)
Being in a rental, I have three ugly generic overhead fixtures--and one black-hole-with-bare-bulb in the bedroom. The bedroom light is really scary: the wiring is wrapped in painter's tape! I have a cute IKEA fixture to go in there, but I'll need a friend to hold a flashlight while I work, once I kill the breaker... Right now I can't afford to replace all the overheads, so I want to get good sidelighting first. I've put new shades on some old table lamps, and got some Kvart clamp/wall lights for the living room shelving and over the sofabed in the study. Still looking for some solutions for the kitchen, where I'm hampered by having one whole side of the kitchen with NO electrical outlet!
Fire Wife Katie - LOVE the nursery! Both adult and baby friendly in feel, color, simplicity, but also fun. Great job!
I have track lights in my kitchen and dining room. I don't really mind the kitchen one, but the dining room is... ugh. I hate them. But I'm in a rental, and I fear pulling down the track will leave my ceiling full of holes, which I'll just have to redrill when I move out in a year and a half and have to put it back. I'd rather not deal with it. Any ideas on camouflaging, my dear AT geniuses?
What if you created a frame (dquare or rectangle) and covered it with fabric anniekins? Hang it below the track lights so when under all you see is a colorful glow instead of the tracks?
Fire Wife Katie - I love your nursery! It looks so sophisticated and the style really seems to go with the rest of your house. So many nurseries have too much going on, then you add toys and they look so chaotic. Yours looks very serene.
Sarahrae, that's a great idea! I think it might be too much for my tiny place, but it got me thinking about maybe distracting the eye instead of covering the lights. That way, I won't diffuse too much of the light to be able to work at the table as I do (my place doesn't get a lot of light, and I often work late at the dining room table - someday I will have a big girl office). I was thinking about hanging something from the track, or using eye hooks and hanging around the lights, too, such as... http://www.etsy.com/shop/PomLove
Thoughts?
Thanks for posting my kitchen here guys! It's a work in progress for sure and perhaps some day the other half of the kitchen will be finished.
p.s. firewife, where did you get that giant metal e?! Must have! Love the nursery. Good work to all.
Thanks for the positive feedback on the nursery! I figure that I'm the one who's in there with the baby all the time; the baby might not appreciate a cool space, so why not decorate it the way -I- will enjoy? :)
decentmammal -- you will NOT believe where I got the "e".
The dollar store.
No joke! (It's wood, not metal, btw.) I do a regular dollar store feature on my blog -- I should have a new one up tomorrow. :) I <3 the dollar store, there really are some surprising things there!!
i have a very ugly lamp which i wanna fix it for a year since moving in! i finally did it....:) feeling cool and really wanna show everyone, please check it out here

anniekins - Those would be great! Make them this weekend so I have a photo for next week's show and tell post! A whole cluster of them would be fabulous. There's several photos in AT and Ohdeedoh archives of this being done and they look great in small spaces!
Sarahrae, I would love to make them this weekend, but unfortunately, this weekend marks the start of finals studying for me. I will grab some tissue paper and wire, though, so if I need a study break, I can be useful. The cures always collide with law school finals!
