Is there anything that Philippe Starck has NOT designed? Well, in case you were worried that perhaps he had overlooked nursery furniture in his bid for total design domination, you can now relax, because Mr. Starck designed this slick high chair. This particular chair is a joint venture with venerable nursery manufacturer Maclaren, and offers some nice features for those of us who live in small spaces, although we also have a few questions.
The sleek modern appearance is a nice bonus, but the real feature for these chairs is that, when not in use, they fold up into a surprisingly small size. For those of us who don't have the floor space in our kitchens to have a regular high chair sitting out 24/7, it is nice to see something so beautiful that also collapses when not in use. This Starck/Maclaran chair is $200.00, and comes only in 'vanilla', which is the $200 word for 'white'. The white is the biggest turnoff for us, because in our experience, feeding time is messy, and baby food stains like crazy. We would also love to hear from someone who is currently using one of these - is it as easy to fold up as they would have us think?
