With young ones in the house, step stools become essential. We have our trusty Bekvam in the kitchen and various step stools in each of the bathrooms. But I found one step stool that every house should have - this folding step stool by Kikkerland.
In fact, I'm bringing mine along with me on a trip this weekend. This little stool is lightweight and collapses down easily to just 2 inches so it travels well. Now we won't have to worry about the kids reaching the sinks to wash their hands and brush their teeth. The step stool has an anti-skid bottom and slip-resistant top which is great in the bathroom and other rooms with slippery floors. But the best part of this step stool is that it collapses down easily to just 2 inches and can be stowed away in tight spaces.
You can get one for $20 in a variety of colors.

I agree - great stool -but I don't know whether I'd recommend it for young ones -
I've pinched my fingers badly a number of times when setting the stool up from the collapsed position!
Her grandparents have it for when we visit, and we ended up with one because it is so handy. No pinched fingers!
We're at the phase where we don't need a super high stool, and don't need a stool all the time. Perfect for it!
I purchased one from Container Store several years before I had my son because I'm short but got tired of having a stool out all the time. With the toddler, there have been pinched fingers just once and my son quickly figured out how to carry it so that it wouldn't happen again. He hasn't *quite* figured out how to open it if it's closed but can carry it to keep it open. It's toted all around the house by him (which means it's rarely in the kitchen when I need it).
We have this stool. In our tiny condo, any floor space not taken up by a stool is essential, so having this stool has been great--tuck it in a tight space and pull it out only when we need it (i.e. multiple times a day). We also appreciate the non-slip nature of this stool.
We have one too. Nicely designed and my 2 year old carries it everywhere to further mischief.
we have 1 downstairs and 1 up. We used traditional stools before. hands down a great upgrade. especially if you don't have a lot of sq footage...bought ours at homegoods
Got one just like this at Ross a couple months ago for less than 5 bucks! It is awesome. Even my 2 yo can get it out herself.
I've got a couple of the taller ones (1 in my classroom and 1 in the kitchen) and 2 shorter ones for my son in the bathroom. I got them at TJMaxx for about $7.99 (for the shorter ones). No pinched fingers yet, but I could see that happening. The short one is the perfect height for my son to reach the toilet while standing up to pee!
We literally just got that exact same stool last week for our twins who will be 2 next month. They love to wash their hands and can even fold and unfold it already. Hoping for no pinches.
We purchased one of these. It pinched our toddler sons' fingers more than once! That was uncomfortable for them, and they did learn how to use it without it pinching their fingers.
The stool is supposed to be made to withstand weight. Well, I am only 75kg; and one time I sat on the stool and it crushed...breaking in several key places.
We threw it away and are looking for a better replacement.
My suggestion: do not buy!
my toddler pinched her hands twice with this stool at her gmas house.
got this stool at TJ max or ross for super cheap. i love it but i am terrified my 3 year old is going to lose his fingers from this. he is not allowed to move it. i have caught my own fingers in it. it is very cute and i love everything by kikkerland but this stool is treacherous.
My 3 year old also got her finger caught in this and I thought it was going to completely slice it off! We could not get her finger out of it.. Returned it and got a wooden stool! Much safer!
We got the Kabooster (http://www.spunkysprout.com/kabooster-stools.html)
and love it. Our little guy can carry it around by the handles and it's not ugly! We'll have it forever.
We have this too, and my 2 year old brings it everywhere around the house! I taught her how to open it without getting pinched and has never hurt herself. I was surprised that she's been so careful, but that's just her.
