Setting a mood in any space is about furnishings and lighting. And while furnishings and decorative items can be repositioned and changed out easily, positioning lighting strategically can be difficult due to the fact lamps and lights need to be situated near an outlet. The outlet limitation was the impetus for the creation of Modern Lantern...cordless, rechargeable table lamps powered by rechargeable lithium ion battery and a warm LED bulbs.

Available in six styles, the Modern Lantern cordless table lamps are notable not only for their untethered capability, but also for their tasteful designs (we're most smitten with the Jade style). The lamps are rated for at least 12 hours of illumination per charge (an additional battery pack can be purchased separately), taking about 2.5 hours to fully recharge.

At about 6 lbs. these lamps are easy to move around the house, making them a good option for dark spaces in homes and apartments (hallways, entries, corner of the home office, etc) where outlets aren't readily available. Prices range from $240 to $320, depending on the style.
