The Talk-o-Meter App Monitors Motormouths

Motormouths: we all know one, and they can chronically take over conversations, conference calls, meetings or social occasions with their non-stop barrage of syllables and silliness faster than you can say, "Hi!". Beyond playing a passive aggressive signal about their annoying habit, there's now an app which monitors how much everyone is speaking during a discussion, a tool which may not only hush the the loose-lipped, but maybe might even aid the timid to speak more often...

The iPhone is placed between two people having a conversation and learns to separate the two voices. At intervals of 1, 2 or 5 minutes you see different lengths of red and blue bars that show what percentage of time each speaker was talking. Nobody has to be unpleasantly exhorted - from time to time everyone will have a cursory glance at the Talk-o-Meter and adapt if he is talking too much. Gentle biofeedback works.

Unfortunately at this time, the Talk-o-meter app only works with 2 people, and is only effective when used with users with distinct voices and utilizied in a quiet environment. An update is on its way permitting for more than 2 users, but the 2-user version is available now for $4.99 if you're aching to check it out.
