March is Kitchen & Bath month here at Re-nest, so we thought we'd start things off by discussing one of the more controversial green bathroom topics: composting toilets.
We don't know too much about them ... have never used or seen one first hand, so it was with great interest that we read about Susan Carpenter's experience in the LA Times.
Carpenter's composting toilet experience was born out of necessity: She was having a lot of expensive plumbing issues and wanted a permanent solution.
And, because she's human, she had her reservations. Would the toilet gross out her company? Would it smell?
We won't spoil the surprise. Read the whole story here.

Um.... no.
I've been really curious about these as well. I have no logical reason to avoid them. If the hype is correct, and the smell is nonexistent, and the upkeep is minimal, I can't really object.
I guess I keep waiting to use one in real life, so I can see how I like them.
So not happening in my 4th floor apartment.
I would be more open to the toilet with a sink incorporated for use of the water to wash your hands before filling the water container than this...
