March is Kitchen & Bath month here at Re-nest, so we thought we'd start things off by discussing one of the more controversial green bathroom topics: composting toilets.

We don't know too much about them ... have never used or seen one first hand, so it was with great interest that we read about Susan Carpenter's experience in the LA Times.

Carpenter's composting toilet experience was born out of necessity: She was having a lot of expensive plumbing issues and wanted a permanent solution.

And, because she's human, she had her reservations. Would the toilet gross out her company? Would it smell?
