What do cats do most of the day? Just hang out. And what is a better place to hang out than in a cat hammock? Tamar Gilad, designer and founder of Cat Above Company, discovered that when volunteering with the Cat Adoption Team, a North Carolina cat rescue organization.
"The cats and kittens at our adoption center love to lounge in their hammocks, which hang in their cages," says Gilad. "Visitors were repeatedly asking where they could buy such a hammock for their own cats. Alas, these hammocks could only hang in a cage!"
Gilad, herself the owner of seven cats, set out to design a sturdy cat hammock stand that would look good even in the living room. The resulting kitty-friendly hammock comes with lightweight, durable hardwood frame made of four sections that simply slide together for easy assembly and storage. The removable, washable hammock is two-sided, available in a variety of fun fabrics with deluxe fleece on one side and cotton on the other. The wood-frame hammock sells exclusively on the Cat Above website.
Following the success this cat hammock, Gilad designed the SnoozePal™, an inventive and affordable cat hammock-in-a-box that has turned out to be a real crowd pleaser for kitties. The sturdy cardboard box creates a cozy enclosed space supporting a fleece-lined hammock that holds up to 20 lbs. Kitty can sit comfortably in her hammock and survey her surroundings through the porthole windows on both sides. The box top is reinforced to enable cats to sit on top as well. The SnoozePal™ ships flat and is easily set up, "just like unfolding origami," says one customer.
The folks at CatAbove have a special Valentine treat for you! Both hammocks are now also available in a pretty Valentine heart pattern.
