Rustic farmhouse style is a simpler and more utilitarian take on that country cottage feel. Fill a home materials that endure the times and don't require much upkeep, and they will last for ever: leather sofas, organic cotton bedding, large farmhouse tables, exposed wooden beams, wide plank hardwood floors, and solid medal sinks.
Above are some specimens of rustic farmhouse-style spaces from each room of the house:
Kitchen: Painted cupboards are more easily refinished than the stained wood variety. Solid wood, and inset doors are easier to repair than those euro styled hinges. Look for butcher block or tiled counter tops, farm house or drainboard sinks and plenty of baking supplies. What better way to warm up the house during the winter than by baking some bread in that old oven.
Dining Room: Companies specialize in farm house dining tables for a reason: large, solid wood tops shows their age, individuality, and authenticity. They're indefinitely refinishable, and all that's required for upkeep is a little wax every now and then. It is the centerpiece of the rustic farmhouse living space, the meeting place after a hard days work and a place of nourishment at mealtime.
Living Room: White shades and curtains keep the light out, while they're easily laundered when needed. Leather sofas are easier to clean, more comfortable and look better with time. A wood stove burning stove is a bonus for heating the space and drying out clothes after a run in the rain or hard days work in the garden.
Bathroom: Pedestal sinks and free standing tubs give a roomier feel. Whites and off whites are spruced up with some color here and there, but simple is always better.
Bedroom: Strong, solid furniture with exposed grain - a beefy framed bed topped with organic cotton bedding (also gets better with age) and a plush down comforter to keep you warm through the chilly nights. Wide plank flooring, wood paneling and paneled ceilings add texture to the otherwise bland room.
Home Office: The desk is a place to work but also a reminder of places you've been and things that are important to you in your life. A comfortable chair, and a desk that will last the test of time are a must (Shown below is the Aris Desk from Pottery Barn).

Ennis? Jack? You there?
In the alt. universe Live Journal that came along after the movie this is how I pictured their farm in VT. All but the massive dining table.
Liz baking her famous pies in the oven.
The leather couch, the bed.
It's missing a fireplace, though.
These are beautiful scenes!
I can smell the horse saddles from here.
I think you're on target for the leather sofa, chunky wooden desk, woodstove and rustic kitchen & dining area...
...but not the wine-tasting banquet table with the bucket of weeds in pic #4.
"Pedestal sinks and free standing tubs give a roomier feel."
Then why post a Console sink that looks like it's from a place in the Hamptons?
And none of the Cowboys I know go for upholstered headboards, monogrammed sheets, letters on the wall (Think "Cattle brand over the fireplace" instead), glass coffee tables, floral rugs, or Rube Goldberg-ian bedside lamps...
The little stove in #3 would have trouble coping with all the people sitting at table in #4. Why not go for a range, like an Aga or Rayburn?
and I'll stick with my linen bedding thank you - stronger and more traditional than cotton...
I like the concept of this post, just I'd prefer less fancy.
Numbers 4, 8, 9 and 10 seem out of place. I like this Rustic Farmhouse idea though, its kind of like that Modern Rustic post you guys did a while back.
Very cozy and comfortable!
Where's the urban?
I wish I had room for a beat up old table like that. The whole kitchen and dining area made me smile

@ bepsf You might be surprised what a good cowboy will put up with for the sweet "little lady" in his life :)
The picture of the bathroom sink MUST be from a different house, right?
Nice enough house but it needs more country touches like quilts and afghans.
"...exposed wooden beams, wide plank hardwood floors, and solid medal sinks."
I think you mean metal, no? Unless they melted down their rodeo medals and made a sink. ;)
You get belt buckles for rodeo wins, so maybe? I'd love to see a giant belt buckle as a table top.
Kitchen and dining room (and bathroom!) don't seem to fit with the rest of the house. Taking 'Cowboy' out of the description seems to fit better. That said, I REALLY like the rustic, raw elements of these rooms!
Vermont Farm Table has a great selection of rustic style furniture. They built a table and two benches custom to the design and size I had been looking for.
