The Vitra Caddy: Functional ( and Expensive) Mobility

Christoph Ingenhoven's Caddy is designed to be everything and anything on wheels. Need a rolling snack bar? The Caddy does a great job of hiding and organizing your Trader Joe's spicy chili mangoes and Izze sodas. Need a laptop workstation? Plugs and cable management are right there to get some work done. Switch it out and top with a HDTV projector for some movie time or business presentations.

The sheet steel powder coated Vitra Caddy comes in three configurations: Standard, Media and Catering, each with their own unique features specific for designed tasks (we love the bottle organizer for the Catering model). Now for the disappointing reality: the Caddy will set you back in the realm of $1,800 or more, depending upon configuration. We like it, but we don't like it that much. Despite our affinity for this design, an IKEA hack of the same idea(s) seems a much more prudent and reasonable option for the earth bound budget.
