Last night the polls closed after nearly two weeks of intense online voting, tweeting and interior design pressure focusing on three windows at 59th and Lexington. We want to thank Bloomingdale's and Elle Decor for making this possible AND all of YOU for voting and commenting. All three windows were remarkable and demonstrated great skill in starting with Bloomingdale's furniture to create a living space, and all were winners in their own way, BUT there's always only one winner, and the final vote detail is below.

This year, for first place, Bloomingdale's is giving yesterday's furniture sales profit (not exceeding $5,000) to the charity of Eddie and Elle Decor's choice, while the rest of us get an entry in the history books and lots of sympathy. :-). Thanks to all of you and see you next year on Lexington!

Second Place: The Writer's Romantic Supper

Third Place: The Urbane Traveller

Nomade Express Slee...
I'm happy for Eddie and your gracious post.
All three entries were fantastic. I'm sure you all had a blast planning, "shopping," and putting it all together. However will you top yourselves next year???
I have to say I am shocked that Eileen Joyce's window came 3rd!
They are all great-but I found Eileens heads above the others
Great work
I loved Eileen's room also. I think it was a bit too safe for most.
I was also really surprised the Bloomingdale's room was so far behind. That is the one I would feel most comfortable in... there is too much visual clutter in Eddie Ross' window for me. But when I imagine walking past these displays in a huge window, I can see how the Bloomingdale's room would not make me stop and linger. I think only Maxwell's room would make me stop, actually, because there is a more obvious "story" behind it that I would want to explore.
Me thinks The Modern Woman is channeling grandma, but I'm not a professional decorator. If you need a place to put Eileen's room, give me a call.
It would have been an honor to pass my tiara for last year's win along to any of the three designers, but I think it will fit Eddie best anyhow.
Congrats... to all three window-makers... and the Bloomingdale's visual team.
I am thrilled that Eddie has triumphed.
I now feel that the fabulous pink chair that has come to live with me has been justified.
A super talented bunch and a well deserved winner.
I do hope Patrick( the other one) that you have found something spectacular to replace your tiara, one can get rather used to sparkle. Ask my husband.
I was totally rooting for Maxwell and love the overall feel his room evokes.
Congratulations to Eddie and Elle Decor, the room was certainly polished and very in the Elle style.
One always feels compelled to feel good for the winner but truth be told for me it is like this winning room, the proper thing to do. I am always attracted to the artist that breaks the acceptable mode. Maxwell did just that he stretched the notion of what the well done room should be. Whether we like everything about a room is not the point, interior design is not just a service it is an art. The visionary rarely wins the prize but more importantly they introduce new ways of seeing.
Keep it up Maxwell,

Congratulations Eddie!

Wow, Bloomies. Glad to see that you're not at all greedy and paying a large chunk of your $1.7 billion annual sales forward.
They didn't *really* have to donate anything...
"Me thinks The Modern Woman is channeling grandma"
I concur. Hmmm.
such a bad bad decorating disaster, this contest is suspect to be a popularity contest.no? I think this contest ran out of road this year with the bloggers loading the eddie vote. great for them to have a voice-but shameful that it is so dishonest-if this is what the blogging design community supports and they did roundly-like blind mice-posting the room on their own sad scrapbooking blogs, they should be banned from the sphere.
The winning room was by far my least favorite. The other two I didn't like everything, but there were certainly pieces of furniture and arrangements I liked. The Elle Decor one... not so much. But it was interesting to see all of these, and see how people ended up voting.
I'm really surprised the Eileen came in 3rd!
Well, Maxwell's is the room I actually want to slip into and sit down...
I'm sorry, but I cannot get behind the winning room. Its brief stated it was for a woman with 2 children -- and there's a high marble bust on a high narrow pedestal? And a WALL of china? And that's just for starters...
Good attempt AT and bad luck. I was torn between yours & Elle Decor and voted differently on different days. The third one is too much like a furnished service apartment.
Congratulations Eddie!
WOW, I am a "published scrapbooker," and without designers and their inspiration...the world of paper would be a dismal place. I thank all in the world of "textile, fashion, and home design!"
I say, BLOG ON!
I guess all you folks unhappy with the results just never voted enough. That said...
I'm really surprised Eddie has not logged on to say hello or thanks to his fans and competition host.
Well, slightly surprised.
Does anyone know if the splatter wallpaper by Hinson in the Eddie Ross window is available retail or only to the trade? I would love to have it.
Funny... I posted (or tried to post) over on Eddie's blog about how I think it would have been nice if he mentioned AT or Maxwell in his "We Won!" post and it doesn't seem to have made it past their "moderators."
Good stuff, this blogosphere.
