I like the phone and all.
But a dumb phone that cost as much as a smart phone?
Call me when it's a realistic price.
@seamusdubh: thank you ;-)
Cute phone however I would be more impressed if the designer figured out how to add what is now basic phone features without resorting pen and paper. Doing so but still keeping the phone simple would be amazing.
Lets say they take this design, convert the paper address book to a touch e-inc screen. Add a SD memory slot (no internal memory needed or wanted) and a standard 3.5mm connector.
- SMS would be B&W text entry on landscape touch e-inc screen on the phone's back
- View and add contacts
- Speakerphone is just plain useful and a low tech item to add.
- Bluetooth (come on.. Most GSM radios have this out of the box. This is critical for real quality hands free driving safety since its on its way to be standard equipment in cars.
- Sync can be by USB or by pulling the SD card
Options (not sure about these)
- mp3 player... Why have to carry a separate music player (also all the hard stuff is already there; SD card, headphone jack, and a processor)
- Camera .. Why have to carry a separate camera. Only can view B&W, but who cares. Man existed for 100 years having to wait until later to view his photos. Also this opens up MMS option.
Just my opinion. Interested in others...
What seamusdubh said.
It seems anti-user-friendly to me. Having to memorize (or write down) all the numbers you call or who call you is more work, not less.
The pen and paper idea is cute, but you could add that to a more functional phone with a simple case. I know Moleskin used to make one for the iphone, at least.
My 70 year old father would be thrilled with a phone that just made good sound quality calls and had an address book.
and, yeah, what seamusdubh said!
@jwalling00: the idea of the phone is to keep it SIMPLE. Just phoning, nothing else, no e-ink, no touchscreen, just telephone ...
@Kaete: I guess the phone has an adress book for the phone numbers ...
I don't see anything wrong with this price, what most people don't realize is that cell phones are extremely expensive to make and carriers subsidize the cost into your monthly plans.
They aren't that expensive anymore.
