Sometimes a high chair just isn't available whether you're out to eat or visiting someone else's home so we're always interested in products that are small and portable that can fill this need. We've seen several cloth products that can hold a baby or young toddler safely in a chair, but the Wriggle Wrapper has a few interesting features and can also be used to secure (or restrain depending on your point of view) a child while they sleep.
What we do like is the "anti-slip rubber grip" of the material which we think would do a better job supporting "wrigglers" in a chair than plain cotton would.
We're not so sure, however, about using it for sleep. Many of you had strong reactions to the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap ("cruel," "ridiculous," "absurd," "a torture device") so we wonder if you think this is better? Can you imagine using this when you travel?

I have something like this for eating. I don't think I would ever use a product like this for sleep though. I still voted HOT because I absolutely love having mine for travel and playdates! It has been a life saver when several moms gather at one home and naturally there aren't extra high chairs hanging around. I have the "my little seat"

It costs $50! Much more expensive than other versions that I have found, though I do like the added rubber material. Maybe I'll just sew grippy stuff onto a $20 version. Would never use a product like this in the crib, though.
Also, if you want to check out the Wiggle Wrapper, don't use the link AT has provided or you may find yourself clicking around trying to find a way to see the price. Use this link instead:

AndreaU: The one you say you have is exactly the version I had been leaning toward buying, but I have one question: what if the chair I would use has an unusually tall or wide back? Will this accomodate that?
We had one of these-type things. Only much cheaper. It was one piece of fabric, cut in a sort of saddle-shape, with long sides to wrap around the chair and velcro to the front. I got it at Toy R Us and spent less than $20! It just stayed in the diaper bag and was great for travel, especially in hotel rooms for those 5:30 am breakfasts!
Why not just use a rope?
Absolutely NOT!!! This sure is torture, why not just use a regular high chair/travel high chair, which gives them a lot more room to feel comfortable in...
@ honeyhaze ... i can't help but be reminded of my grandmother-in-law who once told me they used to tie their children to trees in the yard with rope while they played (much like a dog tie-out). ooooh man! ha
the bed idea is just ridiculous. i can't fathom what parent would do that. andreaU has the right idea :)
Oh my gosh, hilarious! My granny made one of these for me when I was a baby and we found it when we were going through family baby stuff to use for my own baby (now toddler). We love it in all its owl-decorated kitchiness, but I haven't actually tried to use it on a real baby. It has always seemed like it wasn't too useful, as it holds the baby to the back of the chair and doesn't elevate him, which is the real advantage of a highchair.
Uhg.
Another product to buy to avoid holding your kid.
Oh, JeffS. Have you ever seen the movie, "Away We Go?" Your comment made me think of that movie and laugh and laugh.
My daughter would not last in this. She'd get so pissed off because she couldn't turn around of move as well in it like in the high chair.
I don't see how it would help a child who doesn't have a high seat -- there is no booster aspect, and so the child is still too short for the table. So, it looks rather useless to me...
Here in Europe, very few restaurants outside of the Netherlands ever seem to have high chairs or booster seats, so we travelled with a diaper bag that converts into a (secure) booster seat, a hoppop. It's been a lifesaver!

Cheap, easily packable, works like a charm.
