The Written Word is a locally-owned and operated shop in Logan Circle (14th and P Streets). Previously in Dupont Circle, the store has been selling stationary in the DC for over 30 overs. The Written Word uses an antique letterpress (built in 1885) to print personalized and store-ready invitations, announcements, and stationery. See more photos below the jump...

The antique letterpress sits at the back of the store and is shown above. The colorful store carries a nice selection of paper, stationary, design books, and more. Have you been to The Written Word?

Great post - this is a very cool shop. Definitely one folks should check out.
I agree! DC people should definitely check it out. Very friendly service. (And Rachael -- check your stationery vs. stationary use. :-) )
I just love all things wordy - pretty papers - notes - pens - ooh...I could spend some money here if I had some. Meanwhile, its nice to browse on line from far away.
I will never shop here again...staff was extremely discourteous. I had the temerity to ask that a purchase be wrapped in a manner similar to the way they had done it previously and the woman purporting to be the manager opened up a can of rude that was breathtaking.
Save your money and self-respect...shop elsewhere.
(given the number of poor ratings they've rec'd on Yelp.com, poor customer service appears to be their hallmark)
They've actually closed or relocated, but they're no longer on P St anymore...
