2011 was a big year for us at Apartment Therapy and The Kitchn, and this week we are honoring the images created by our team of contributors. We are scattered across the globe, but come together in the goal of taking beautiful pictures to illustrate our stories. With this in mind, we invite you to vote for a favorite picture of 2011 that ran on one of our sites.
We polled our team for photo submissions over the holidays and the resulting 25 images are up for the top picture of the year. We want to hear from you about which photo you think deserves this distinguished honor. Many of our contributors have day jobs or other interests and for some, photography is long time passion and for others, it's a newly developed skill.
Please take a moment to fill out our survey, selecting the image you think deserves top nod out of our 24 contenders. Thanks and cheers to another great year of beautiful images!

Nomade Express Slee...
I really liked all the photos...but Judith Jones looks so exuberant and joyful in her kitchen!
I want that picture of tomato soup above my dining table. 8D
Love Emily Ho's photo of oranges... and I'm allergic to oranges!
Sabra Krock for Judith Jones made such a good work, I agree: Judith Jones is even the best Kitchen Tour I made: I completely renovated my kitchen the way her kitchen looks like, opened, all tools out, a real kitchen that smells good even on picture... Bravo, from Québec City!
Where are the pictures from 'the kitchens where we learned to love food'? Those are my favorites.
I voted for the tomato soup pic. It spoke to me on many levels... the colors, the smells, the textures....beautifully done!
Judith Jones for sure....
The lovely Judith Jones !
In my mind it's about design, balance, colour and composition. There are many wonderful photos and I wish I could have voted for more, but I love the photo by Landis Carey for Kimberly's Tour.
I'll always vote for any picture with food in. I'm (very) easily pleased.
Bethany Nauert - Bethany Nauert - Bethany Nauert - the most talented of all. She's got the gift of seeing what's really there and capturing the scene with her magic that will take her far - my favorite would be Brandon's Tour, But it's really difficult to chose just one of her Tours.
I loved the food pictures and the less busy the better.. But for me the real artsy winner was the keys and cell phone. They just jump out at you
I do like the picture of Liz Vidyarthi for Adrian & Allison's Tour. Your site is mostly about environments that people live in and this pic sums that up to me. Technically as a photographer, she shot this perfectly.
@MYRNA Thank you! That was a post I put together with reader-submitted photos - this contest is a tribute to our contributors and their photography.
Not only is this a working kitchen and beautifully organized, the owner's love of animals and her happiness is wonderful ! A great photo.
This was tough--I was tied between three or four of these, but really... I also felt there were other photos on the sites that probably belonged in here, too! Ah, well. <3
Judith Jones not only looks so happy, but hers is a real working kitchen, not a shiny magazine spread that's never used.
Judith Jones real woman with a real kitchen with real food.
look for PHOTO quality people! this is a photo contest!
I voted this morning, so I was only one of three who voted for the Judith Jones photo at that point. So happy to see that it's on top! There are so many lovely photos, but this one really seems to capture something special. So it's photo quality (they're all high quality, actually) plus Sabra's ability to catch her subject at that exact right moment. She certainly has the eye.
I love the photo Bethany Nauert took of Antonio Ballatore and his dog Chewie-the look they are giving each other is priceless. Chewie knows he's living the good life.
Mr. Splashypants we are voting on the photo quality. I'm sorry if you didn't get any votes.
Can't find place to vote for Liz Vidyarthi and the Loop Loft house tour (not Canvas & Ochre's). Marcia Prentice has two vote buttons but only one photo. Please fix so I know where my vote is going. THANKS!
Bethany Nauert's really stood out, but I also loved the lighting and composition of Lilias Petit-Scott's photo.
Photo quality = Sabra Krock's photo - she captured the place, the person, and the pet --beautiful photo .
Bethany Nauert has the eye to capture the beauty of the scene she is taking - she certainly is a talented photographer! Her photos are clear and well orchestrated. Isabelle and Brandom's Tour the best of them all.
Cool Paul
All the photos are wonderful however the bedroom photograph by Lilias Petit-Scott's is in my opinion the most successful image in technique because it requires real skill to capture a floor to ceiling composition in a tight space with such delicate lighting like she has. It's really amazingly well done. The warmth really stands out, as does the brilliant wall and ceiling paint job in. What I like about the room itself is that this person has made something exquisite out of relatively modest architecture - and that is much more impressive to me then pictures of "paradise" gardens and grand open spaces flooded with light, (although beautiful) because photographically those are easy to capture and look good without much technical skill on the part of the photographer - and in terms of design, those kinds of spaces are not actually accessible to most people. That's why Shannon's room is so successful!
I also the pic of Judith in her kitchen, but as a stand alone photograph - it is more of a portrait then a successful composition of a space.
:) congrats to everyone!
love, love, love Bethany's pix, especially Antonio's tour!
Lilias Petit-Scott's photo captures the serenity of the elegant yet comfortable bedroom. Instead of using a lot of light, she gave us the cozy feeling that invites us into the room.
Beautiful room!
Hey AT,
Don't forget to update this: "© 2011 Apartment Therapy" as we are in 2012
Lighting....Lilias Petit-Scott's picture does it for me.........
Love Bethany Nauert's photos!!
Congratulations Bethany!!!! I am happy and honored to have you tour our apartment last year!
