When we're searching for something to add to our space - be it furniture, textiles, or other household items - we try to shop in the following order: secondhand, local, then only after we've exhausted those two, we turn to online searching and shopping. The online options for home design products are dizzying at best and completely overwhelming at worst…
Recently we started poking around thefind.com, which, if you access through pointclickhome.com, zeroes in on products for the home. Thefind.com is what's called "a discovery shopping" resource, supposedly mimicking a real-world shopping experience of browsing through products based on a search criteria (e.g. brand, color), in contrast to "comparison shopping" engines which focus on price and where you can get the best deal on a specific product.
For us, the verdict is still out about whether thefind.com is a reliable gateway to lesser known products or if it's just a portal for the big guys. However, we were delighted to discover the launch of thefindgreen.com, a smaller database of products focusing exclusively on eco products.
Have you had good luck with thefind.com? Do you have other favorite search engines for finding products for your home?
