(Halfway) Around the World On a Water Bottle Boat

There's not many 30 year olds we know who would be willing to spend their money on environmental awareness, or for that matter, use it to build a boat made of plastic water bottles...

Anyone who's followed the adventures of the Plastiki, David de Rothschild's water bottle-boat-in-progress, the setbacks have been many. With a scheme to sail from San Francisco to Australia in order to raise awareness, about the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch, some critics are chocking it up to fool-hardiness and a waste of money. (de Rothschild is an heir to the banking family).

The launch date, which has been postponed previously, is now set for this summer. And while we imagine the more money a delay must require, and the frustration, it's also got to be good for at least increasing public interest.

You can follow his adventure here.
