We all know rent is too damn high. But just how high, and where? Trulia crunched the numbers and mapped out the results:

Roughly 50% of New York and San Francisco's one-bedroom apartments rent for $3,000 or more. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan is $3,250, just barely stealing the wallet-busting title from San Francisco ($3,200). In New York, rent is most expensive in Midtown, where the median rent for one area is $4,250. In Battery Park City, more than 90% of the one-bedrooms are over $3,000, the most saturated area of expensive rents.
