Feast your eyes on these beauties. Does anything created for the humble purpose of delivering liquids from the table to your mouth really have any business looking so good?
These lovely creations are the work of Studio Arhoj, a ceramics studio that explores "the visual relationship between Scandinavian simplicity and traditional Japanese culture". Their products have a very tactile, immediate feel to them — you can sense the love that went into their creation. And (this is the part that really gets me) they come in the most gorgeous colors.
The only difficulty (if you consider this a difficulty) is that the sip cups (pictured up top) are quite small, only about 3" wide by 2.5" tall. So they're really only suitable (as the name would suggest) for small amounts of tea or coffee. If you're more partial to big gulps, Studio Arhoj also makes the slurp cup (pictured above), which has the same diameter but is four inches tall, suitable for holding almost twice as much liquid.
These little guys also aren't cheap (they will set you back € 20.00 even for the little ones), but I can see them being a bit of a splurge/investment for someone who really treasures colorful homewares and drinks a lot of tea (in small quantities). I for, one, am very tempted to take out a second mortgage (ok, I don't have a mortgage, but whatever) and fill my cabinets with these beauties.
