These Spaces Used to Be Empty Malls

As stores shutter and malls become abandoned, communities have to figure out what to do with the massive structures. There are some inspiring spaces across the country that are being repurposed into new venues for living and working.

One such space is Arcade Providence (above), America's first indoor mall and on the historic register, which has been turned into micro-apartments in the Rhode Island capital.
