Sold this month for a reported €275 million (or $301 million), this Paris mansion now holds the record for the highest price paid for a home.

The 56-acre villa, located between Versailles and Marly-le-Roi, includes an aquarium and cinema, while the gardens boast a gold leaf fountain, marble statues, and a labyrinth. Though named Chateau Louis XIV, the property was finished in 2011 (it took three years to complete).

The previous world record price was for a London penthouse sold for $221 million in 2011.
