Giving out candy to trick-0r-treaters seems easy enough — you just buy a random assortment of sweet treats to hand to costume-clad kids, right?

Sure, but if you really want to be the best house on the block this year, you should give the people what they want by buying your state’s most popular candy.

Influenster polled more than 40,000 people in the United States to create a nationwide candy map, which reveals the most popular candy in each state. If you live in California, for example, make sure to buy plenty of Life Savers. If you live in Texas, however, you’ll want to stock up on candy corn.

Overall, America’s favorite candy is the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, so if you’re looking for a general crowd-pleaser, you can’t go wrong with that.
