Poor Latin Americans living in mud huts are susceptible to vinchuca beetle infestations, a pest that carries the potentially fatal Chagas disease. Chemist Pilar Mateo created Inesfly, a house paint with a slow-releasing insecticide that kills the harmful bug. Inesfly has reduced infestation rates from 90% to nearly zero.
