You can barely even tell there's a kitchen in here.

And now for something completely different: a kitchen that hides away completely when not in use. If hyper-minimalism is your chosen look and you've ever resented your appliances for their visual intrusion on your space, we've got a kitchen for you.

Also, the most elegant range hood you've ever seen.

This super-minimal design, from Dutch firm i29, features a sink and cooktop incorporated into a slim black island. The cooktop is the same color as the island, which allows it to almost disappear.

On the living room side the island tapers to almost nothing at the edge, making it appear even thinner and lighter than it actually is. I am still not quite sure how the sink works, though. There may be some magic involved.

Everything else — ovens, pantry, a little in-kitchen workspace — is hidden behind folding doors, so when the kitchen's not in use, you would hardly know it's there at all.

You can read more about the kitchen on the D Pages, and see more photos of the house (this is 'home 10') on i29's website.
