This is a MacBook Air in Disguise

Undoubtedly one of the most popular things to do this past year is to dress up your ultra-light portable PCs with cases reminiscent of Moleskines and books - it appears like this trend will continue onto the new year as computers get even thinner and lighter than ever before. Above, we have a MacBook Air whose identity shall remain hidden until it's time to do some actual work.

When opened, the Moleskine-like case becomes a lovable laptop stand for your lap, though we're not sure how well leather and wood dissipate heat when under load. But if being hip is what you're into, you can check out Cartella's Italian leather cases (available for 11-13 inch MacBook Airs) available now for $90.

Alternatively, if you have an iPad and want the same treatment, we've seen it done in similar fashion by SF-based DODOCase for $60.

For me, I can see the draw in such accessories. For the constant traveler, it's quite practical. Not only does it give you a layer of security (from those who can't tell a Moleskine notebook from an oversized imitation), it also beats having a bulky bag with all that bulky laptop protection material when you can just get a regular bag.

And hey, if you can look even the least bit cool while whipping out your tech at the corner cafe to impress whoever, we're all for a little vanity here at Unplggd!
