We just got a party invite: launching on April 1st, the perfect shoe for the interior design geeks out there! A limited edition Nike made from Hella Jongerius' Layers....
It is in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Nike Airforce and will be sold exclusively through Moss.
Maharam’s unique interpretation of the AF1 introduces a silhouette constructed of Layers, a textile created by the Maharam Design Studio in collaboration with Dutch industrial designer Hella Jongerius. Layers, produced in single and double layered variations in 100% wool felt, uses sophisticated full-width embroidery equipment played against artisanal hand-cutting to create patterning, resulting in an “industrial
craft” hybrid. This already complex textile was further engineered to meet the specific needs of the AF1. The result represents a multi-disciplinary undertaking, bridging disparate aspects of industrial design including sports technology, textile design and the conceptual avant-garde.

pretty silly, but also kind of cute, (and I'm not a sneaker person). I like the felt.
Cool concept but ugly shoes. And felt footwear? Totally impractical. So not pretty OR sensible.
It is great in theory...but those shoes are so ugly.
I'm not all that into this particular shoe, but I've always thought that kids get the BEST tennis shoes. Great colors, patterns, flashing lights, all kinds of stuff--and we grownups have to settle for dull regular old shoes.
