Use This "By Location" Shopping Tip and Save Hundreds

I was perusing an online sales site readers board (I'm looking for the best deal on an expensive DSLR lens) when I came upon a shopper's tip which purports to possibly offer considerable savings on a wide arrangement of devices and appliances, including photography gear, with only a few mouse clicks worth of effort...

Slickdeals.net board commentor, gkpgkp, points out the highly sought, retro-design Fujifilm X10 12.0-Megapixel Digital Camera could be had for an eye-rubbing $199 (+tax) via Best Buy's In-Store Clearance section. For an idea of how good of a deal this is, even Amazon sells this particular model at $349.00, which is nearly $251 less than the original $599.95 list price to begin with.

The catch? Not every in-store clearance location offers this price or even has the camera in stock, as the price reflects a chain-wide model clearance, and many of the other listed items are open box returns. But, if you're fortunate to be near the right retail location, a simple search online can bring back countless tech bargains you won't see necessarily advertised, hopefully including the X10:

How to search and shop the Best Buy in-store clearance section:
  • Go to BestBuy.com
  • Go to "Store Locator" , located at the upper right of the site
  • Choose your location (you may have to change this later to review other nearby store location's stock) by clicking on store location name
  • At the bottom of each store location's information page, under "SPECIAL PRODUCTS" will be a section labeled "Clearance & Open Box Items". Click this and then "Shop This Store".

Sadly, after checking my three closest locations, I couldn't find the Fujifilm X10 for the same price as discovered by gkpgkp. But I did find some comparably impressive deals, including one for an open box camera tripod I'm going to pick up later. I also checked and found other big box chains like Sears offers similar "by zipcode" in-store clearance deals for regional specials viewable online, which can prove fruitful for checking for appliance discounts, so be sure to check your favorite chain retailers for similar by-store shopping deals options.
