Everything depends on context. In the city, 35 square meters (388 square feet) might feel like quite a small space. But at the foot of Spain's Pyrenees, with mountain breezes all around, suddenly this little house seems like a kingdom unto itself.

The space was converted from what used to be a stable, and in keeping with that spirit of ingenuity the designer envisioned a living room that also functions as a bedroom.

The living room is dominated by a u-shaped sectional sofa whose ends turn into beds when necessary. It's the perfect solution for a vacation house, where falling asleep on the couch might bring to mind the forgotten joys of sleepover parties long ago. (Sleeping in the living room is also a great way to enjoy the warmth and aroma of the fireplace all night long.)

The space also comprises a small entry, bathroom, and kitchen, whose floors are all covered in a tile that complements the rustic feel of the space. All told, it's a beautiful, but not too indulgent, way to get away from it all.
