It is the small design details in our life that have the most power in our homes— the ability for us to really put our mark on a space and express our personality. If you have a piece of furniture (or maybe even a kitchen cabinet door or a bathroom cabinet drawer) feeling like it needs a quick punch up, consider this easy-to-do DIY design detail addition for your home this weekend!
This Weekend's Assignment:
Give your kitchen or bathroom cabinets or a piece of furniture a face-lift by upgrading knobs, pulls or handles.
It seems like a such a small, insignificant design detail. Certainly not the sort of element that would have all that big of a visual impact on an entire room. But drawer and door knobs, pulls and handles don't just function to help you open things in your home; they really can change the look and feel of a space. This weekend, locate a room or a piece of furniture that you've felt bored with. If that room or piece of furniture has doors or drawers, consider upgrading the existing knobs, pulls or handles with something new. Whether you choose something sleek and subtle or bold and eye-catching, believe us when we tell you your cabinets and furniture piece will seem fresh and exciting!
When replacing these small but potent objects, you can usually go one of two ways: Replace knobs and pulls with new ones with the same drill hole needs (the easiest option) or replace with anything you want, even if you have to do a little old-hole filling and new drilling (harder but still doable). Below, find instructions on how to tackle both in the how-to:
Remember, as with all of our Weekend Projects, just do what you have the time and energy to do!
