Your kitchen cabinets are the face of your kitchen. A large surface area, they take up a lot of actual space in nearly everyone's kitchen, as well as command a lot of attention. Whether or not your kitchen cabinets are currently your dream style, material or color, there's still one simple thing you can do this weekend that will improve the whole look of your kitchen, and won't require ripping out cabinets or using power tools. This weekend, give your kitchen cabinets a good cleaning.

This Weekend's Assignment:

Give your home's cabinets a good wash

This assignment is simple to complete, and depending on how long it has been since you've done it (or if you've ever done it), your cabinets might really need it. Cooking splashes, spilled sauces, grease and more can attach to our cabinets, escaping notice. Hands can leave oil residue on knobs and door corners. And little kids sometimes afflict the worse dirt damage on our poor kitchen cabinets. Quite simply, these surfaces just don't always get our full cleaning attention, but this weekend, give them a simple scrub and watch as your whole kitchen gets just a little bit fresher feeling.

For this assignment, we're specifically referring to cleaning the outside of your cabinets (which won't require taking anything out of them), but if you want to be even more thorough, you can clear out your dinnerware and scrub the insides, too.

Click the above link for a how-to for washing your kitchen cabinets. The instructions aren't difficult to follow and you won't need many materials. We think you should aim to finish cleaning your kitchen cabinets, and if you still have time and energy left over, consider your bathroom cabinets (where things like lotion, toothpaste and more can sometimes collect on those cabinets). But whichever cabinets you decide to clean, please do test out your cleaning tools to make sure they don't damage your cabinets' finish, first.

→ As with all of our Weekend Projects, do as little or as much as you have time to do. If your kitchen cabinets are already pretty clean, consider doing a quick swipe for good measure and then moving on to a past Weekend Project assignment or something YOU need to work on!
