Good start. Needs to be designed. Spread the globes around the room or group just a couple together and hand some things up on the posts on the wall for color.
*hand some things on the coat racks
*hang
I think it would have a wonderful Shaker feeling, except for the globes, which really took me by surprise when I went to the second picture. At first I thought "balloons?!"
I love Shaker style- what a relaxing room. I agree though, the globes could be grouped and maybe spread around the room.
What, @ Hello Kitty? This room suits him perfectly with his own sense of design style. I wouldn't change a thing! The globes obviously provide somewhat of a screen from downstairs viewing. I LOVE the idea of being surrounded by those globes at night when they're all lit up. GREAT sleeping chamber, Thom!
Great room, love the photos. I would put some kind of shelf on the stretchers of those stools to make them more useful as nightstands. I like globes and their relationship with the globe lamps, but they would have long flown off that ledge in my bedroom.
I agree with Hello Kitty about globes and coat hooks. Group your favorite three and place the rest in other parts of the house. Otherwise, it's a very nice room. Cozy and charming. I really like that candle holder in the corner. I especially love the brick wall and your collection of photographs, which seem very inviting as you walk up the stairs.
I kinda have a crush on the washbasin and the candleholder, and I really love the aesthetic of the coat hooks - it would also look fine with clothing on each one, since the rest of the room is pretty plain! Really, I'm bookmarking the first image for inspiration.
Honestly, I'm not feeling the globes at all, but that might just be me - if you're happy with your space, then, yay.
Love the simplicity.
Whooooa! Globe city! It's not my thing, but cool vibe. They wouldn't have the same effect all spread around the room.
this isnt very nice.
At first I wondered why the globes are blocking the pictures on the wall then noticed it is a loft bedroom. Like the colors!
At first glance it looked nice and spartan. . but yeah. .the globes? lol @ globe city. They look kind of scary, actually. The single candle with the holder over the wash basin also looks weird, to me. But otherwise I really like the colours and the matchy matchy wood and the blanket on the bed.
It could use some green. Some plants.
WTF? Who wants nice when you can have handsome.
i like the simplicity of the color scheme. i like the shaker-style furniture. the brick wall is definitely a show-stopper. i also like the abundance of natural light. i don't enjoy the placement of the globe collection. it too precarious for me. i'd be afraid that i'd knock them down while tossing and turning in my sleep. also, the wrap around hangers aren't handsome or sculptural. i think they detract from the peaceful vibe of this space. their placement on the wall also accentuates the low ceiling.
I don't know why people are telling other people what to do with their rooms. This isn't a "Please, tell me what I should do about my bedroom" contest. I was under the impression that people just wanted to share their bedrooms.... enough with the unsolicited advice, already.
Reminds me warmly of a lovely, spare B&B room I once had on the Maine coast....very calming.
i think someone has a fetish.
This. Love the globes but not he way he are right now.
I like the globe collection - just not in this room and not all around the bed. If the globes were removed this room would be perfect. The ceiling seems low so keeping things simple and clean is a good idea.
Its lovely and simple, but yes, I must agree, the globes look odd grouped behind the bed. Taking them away would make this room perfect.
Wow, really love that exposed brick wall. Nice globe collection. Have you ever considered suspending one or two from the ceiling?
This room makes me feel peaceful.
I love, and can totally imagine my husband saying, the statement 'this is not a modern home.' :)
love your vision ~ bet the rest of your home is great, too!
nice short answers ;-)
I also think the globes are too much, the bedspread offers enough of a pop of color to pull the rest of the room together.
I love and covet the Shaker hooks and think the globes are inspired. I would seriously consider hanging a mirror on the hooks over the dresser - that could be very interesting and would require some creativity - maybe with openings through the mirror itself.
Also I would consider taking the globes off the stands (sacrilege?) and hanging them like balloons from the hooks.
Funny, the globes were my favorite part. I don't see how they "don't go with the rest of the space" like so many are claiming. The multi-colored bed spread and the brick complement them nice, as do the grey walls.
Luv your room but lost me on the globes and globe lamps. Less is more
