Following Anna's Retrospect column on the Bentwood Chairs of Gebrüder Thonet, it's an excellent time to roundup the large variety of bentwood café chairs — available at a range of prices.
Many of these contemporary bentwood cafe chairs are manufactured in Poland at the same factories used by Thonet. Check the captions for specific information including pricing (when available) and links.
Don't forget to check Apartment Therapy Scavenger and your local Apartment Therapy Classifieds! — used bentwood chairs are frequently available for great prices!

Sprout Side Table
Just the other day I was drooling over that table and chairs on the C&B site. SO beautiful.
beautiful chairs! love the classic style. My favorite is the green chair in the third pic (so bright and sunny)

honey living - if you look at the Thonet website, many of their chair designs are available in variations featuring alternate padding/upholstery options
Wow, that table in the first pic is amazing!
I love that first table!
I too am drooling over the Thonet chairs from Crate and Barrel.
in my experience, they are comfortable (and using a cushion isn't unheard of).
Dear honey living,
One rarely sees a cushion on a Thonet chair because they are comfortable. Popular wherever people gather around a nice espresso and talk talk talk for hours. I simply love these chairs.
I love the classic Thonet chair, but I don't see it here. They paint it red or they twist it out of shape. Even the Thonet company has removed the classic hairpin back, replaced it with an element that leaves an ugly hole in the center of the back. Arms are all right, but the point of the cafe chair is to be compact, and arms make the chair bigger.
My fantasy is to enter a used furniture store, and to find a set of four with a natural finish, and no frills.
Fabulous, I have been trying to plot a plan of how I can afford some Thonet bent wood chairs for my kitchen, in sunny yellow. Very excited to see that Ikea have an Ogla chair in recycled plastic. I am now praying to the Ikea God's that this chair comes to Australia in yellow really soon.
