We were really struck by this table top display shown at CB2 (on the Darjeeling table). The collection of longneck vases make for an interesting look, but we're of the school of thought that a dining table should remain clear and ready for dining (save for one primary centerpiece). What do you think of this cluster look for the dining room?
Darjeeling dining table ($899) and longneck vases ($3.95-$4.95) available at CB2.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like the mis-matched chairs but am not crazy about those vases. Maybe a MORE clustered look in the middle of the table would be better?
nah...just looks kinda cluttered to me.
too easy to tip over... love the mismatched white chairs thought
oooooooooh i like. they look like volumetric flasks.
With dishes and everything on the table, the centerpiece would look cluttered - it's too similar to dishes and too spread out for it to work.
I've recently changed my mind about centerpieces though... i've seen ones that reflect the ingredients or history/culture of the meal, and i loved them. Centerpieces as mindful foci.
The vases are filled with sand - it will take effort to tip them over.
I loved the other views of the use of this vase, the sand technique is lovely!
A decent volumetric flask won't tip over with or without sand in it. I've got a few actual volumetric flasks at home - maybe I'll try putting coloured sand in them.
It's hard to tell without seeing everything else on the table. In general, I think a table can work well with more than one 'centerpiece'.
Cluttered. As my friend Bob would call them: Dustables.
also, i can't help but wonder if this is a 'sponsored' post.
i think it is looking silly. i do like the chairs and the table, but the vases are just huh.
I took this vignette as a way to simply show off their wares, not as an actual setting for a dinner party. It's not very functional anyway.
when i first looked at this photo i thought the vases were fancy toilet plungers . . . .
lol, blueberrygirl
Yeah, I don't think they look very nice.
i'm with blueberrygirl--'what are all those plungers doing on a dining room table?' was my thought.
