Thanksgiving is upon us. Did you spend all of your money on your menu? Don't despair about decorating the table. Just step outside. These ideas from Donna Hay use nature's decorations to trim a seasonal tabletop.
• 1 This one's our favorite. It uses leaves under muslin for a softening effect. And we're guessing the muslin serves to hold the leaves down and keep them from floating around the table.
• 2 Create a napkin ring using a leaf, thread, and a strip of paper. The leaf shown here is actually fabric, but we think you could do the same with natural leaves, a greener alternative (even if the leaf is yellow).
• 3 Spring blossoms are shown in this example, but we'd love to see hanging jars of winter greenery used in this way. We're really not sure what the jars are actually hanging from (a chandelier?), but if you can figure out a way, we bet it would look really cool.
