Ercol Bar Stool
My favorite movie and soundtrack are both from Silence of the Lambs... the soundtrack is so disturbing, but pulls you in and keeps you tied to the suspense.
The soundtrack to 'Almost Famous' is hands down my favorite.
Loving the site, keep it up.
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. An amazing film and an amazing score. Every emotion is beautifully explored in this story of adventure.
Favorite movie soundtrack:
Juice (Starring Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps)
As far as great movie soundtracks go, you can't really beat High Fidelity. The soundtrack (and the film, as intended) reminds one of a great mixtape.
My favorite movie soundtrack is Garden State. Its very chill and great to listen to when you want to relax.
James Horner's work on the soundtrack to "Sneakers" (1992) was amazing, and is far and above my favorite. The score has an ethereal, jazzy feel that sets the mood right away in the opening credits, and gives incredible depth to the on-screen story.
It's tough to settle on just one, but in terms of "movie themes which I find myself most often humming, and must therefore be my favorite" I have chosen:
Jerry Goldsmith's incredible, inspiring and intense score for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE.
Many is the time I've had the Klingon Battle Theme wedged soundly in my brain. Traipsing down the sidewalk making the synth noises and mouthing the string/flute arpeggios, no doubt looking like a person who is insane. Some people sing pop songs in the shower. I sing what happens when Spock jets into the V'ger entity for the first time.
My favorite soundtrack is Inside Man. Written by terence blanchard ... an even more talented trumpet player.
the only soundtrack that i've ever purchased:
everything is illuminated
Maybe it's a cliche, but the first Star Wars (Episode 4, I guess) soundtrack still gives me goose bumps. Takes me back to the first time I saw, no, beheld it.
The soundtrack to 300 is awesome. I was looking at this stereo setup just last week as my living room is currently being remodeled. I've already place speaker wire in the 4 corners of the ceiling. If I won this, I would be the happiest man in the world and with the money I've saved, I can splurge on a bigger tv hahaha
blow is my favorite movie soundtrack.
Pick Me Pick Me!
Anywho - Best soundtrack ever made - Love Jones - followed closely by School Daze and Belly! No woman could resist that Love Jones CD!
Black Orpheus--pre-Bossa Nova samba from Antonio Carlos Jobim and traditional Brazilian folk songs combined with ambient pieces from the film...A must have!
favorite soundtrack: Dragon, The Bruce Lee Story.
The best soundtrack ever has to be from Great Expectations.
I have to go with Pulp Fiction. It made soundtrack albums popular again and did the same with Kool and the Gang.
I love the Into the Wild soundtrack. It would sound great over this system :)
i'm going to have to go with the sound of music. i'm sure it'd sound amazing in 5.1.
oh man, i love soundtracks. i love scores, too, but i collect soundtracks!
best scores, i think, are David Lynch movies, Tim Burton flicks (gotta love Danny "Boingo" Elfman!), Quentin Tarantino digs, and the entire Lord of the Rings series!
as for soundtracks, right now my favorite is Into the Wild because i love me some Eddie Vedder, but i have always loved The Lost Boys, The Crow, Pump up the Volume, Pretty in Pink, Ghost World, Pulp Fiction, DIRTY DANCING!!, High Fidelity, Eddie and the Cruisers, Empire Records, hehe what about The Jazz Singer??, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Virgin Suicides, ohoh Lost in Translation...i could go on, but i gotta run!
I loved the I heart Huckabees soundtrack I love everything Jon Brion does.
If I had to pick one favorite soundtrack - maybe the Lord Of the Rings? But I also love most of Danny Elfman's work, and at the moment I'm listening to Ennio Morricone (spelling?) soundtrack hits. And there's many, many others I love...
There are so many - I would have to say 9 1/2 weeks is one of my favorites. Love Joe Cocker!
My favorite soundtrack would be The Thomas Crown Affair...it is a GREAT movie with some amazing tracks (that blow you away when played on the perfect system!)
My favorite soundtrack is from Rushmore.
I love it all!
The commitments. Its the reason I bought my first CD player.
Amalie. I love Yann Tiersen.
My favorite soundtrack with a family is Disney's Fantasia.
that's a hard pick, but I like soundtracks done by well known artists...prince comes to mind- his sountrack for batman was sweet!!!
"Blade Runner" by Vangelis. Moody synth perfection.
Grosse Pointe Blank. Hands down.
Featuring The Clash, Violent Femmes, The Pixies, Motörhead, Echo & The Bunnymen, and BOTH Paul McCartney's and Guns N' Roses' versions of 'Live and Let Die'. C'mon!
Also, the film itself contains a firefight between, of all people, John Cusack and Dan Ackroyd. I bet it sounds glorious in globular 5.1.
The "Fight Club" soundtrack by the Dust Brothers (which is the name the Chemical Brothers use for soundtracks AFAIK). The Requiem for a Dream and Pi soundtracks (by Clint Mansell) are also rather good.
Hey Unplgged how's it going! My favorite soundtrack is certainly the new Batman Dark Knight soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Absolutely genius work in my opinion. 2nd would be the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis. Good old 80's synth work. <3 <3
Perfet timing, I just "BLEW" my last set of speakers!
love actually and garden state...which reminds me, they need to make it onto my ipod...
Got to be bladerunner
My favorite soundtrack has always been 'West Side Story'. Thanks for offering this contest!
My favorite soundtrack is Transformers: The Score by Steve Jablonsky. Crank it up, it's awesome!
Another vote for Garden State, actually. While the movie was amazing the first time around, it didn't age well for repeat showings.
The soundtrack, though, introduced me to, say, 12 bands that I still follow to this day because of it. Absolutely the best.
My favorite movie soundtrack is The Sound of Music.
It would have to be from Star Wars. Only because my kids are always humming Star Wars themes and that always brings a smile to my face!
My favorite soundtrack is from Kill Bill.
My fav soundtrack is from High Fidelity - one of my fav movies too.
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Jon Brion sets the mood perfectly.
Star Wars and Close Encounters are both good.
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Come on, its an album set to film, how can you not love that!
BEACHES OR COMING HOME
My favorite movie soundtrack is Foot Loose! :)
:) Thank you for the great giveaway! :)
Complete toss up between Garden State and Stranger than Fiction. With Garden State can't beat the chill I get hearing Coldplay's Don't Panic and thinking of the first time i saw the film or the sublime cover of The Postal Service's Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine; however, equally impressive is the eclectic mix Stranger than Fiction gives with empowering songs by Spoon, some beautiful things made just for the fim, and of course the very inspiring Whole Wide World by Wrekless Eric. It's just too hard to choose.
I *LOVE* the soundtrack to Garden State! Thanks for an awesome giveaway!
The soundtrack to 'Little Miss Sunshine' is one of my recent favorites.
Good luck to everyone!
Hmm... that's actually a really hard question! I guess I'd have to go with the original Fantasia soundtrack. I've even turned clips of the songs into ringtones. =)
Hands down, the Fight Club OST by the Dust Brothers! I wore out the CD and had go buy a new one!
ok, who hasn't belted out alongside nicole kidman and ewan mcgregor while listening to the soundtrack for moulin rouge?
well probably a lot of people... but i do.
Children of Dune was the best movie soundtrack ever. Beautiful and haunting.
Favorite movie soundtrack is Kingdom of Heaven.
Favorite soundtrack: Almost Famous
I like Star Wars I.
I just love the soundtrack of Braveheart. The music of the battle and everything. It's actually energizing and stimulating for a good intimate Sunday romp!
Stranger than Fiction's soundtrack is my favorite due to the excessive amount of influence that Spoon's songs have on the film's atmosphere. Not something you would expect just by listening to a Spoon album, but true when put along side the movie.
My favorite is the Forrest Gump soundtrack.
Requiem for a Dream wins, hands down.
wow there are so many choices, but I have to pick
The Fifth Element
= the soundtrack is a blend of industrial, techno, chill, and opera it's great =)
Come on..this isn't even a contest - it's Clockwork Orange hands down. Classical Gas version of Beethoven's 9th plus I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper? No I'm sorry, nothing compares.
Oh man, the soundtrack to Superfly comes instantly to mind. It doesn't get much better than Curtis Mayfield.
'Across the Universe' comes to mind, but there are so many great movies with great soundtracks!
The best has to be Foot Loose.
Reservoir Dogs, hands down!
my fave has to be "ps. i love you" sound track, its so emotional
I know I'm showing my age here, but I would say the soundtrack from The Breakfast Club.
I like the "I Am Sam" soundtrack - all covers of Beatles songs.
I like the "Top Gun" sound track.... Danger zone.........!
My favorite movie soundtrack has to be either the Pulp Fiction or Forrest Gump soundtrack. Tons of great songs on Forrest Gump! Thanks!
2001: A Space Odyssey.
I think I'd have to go with Rushmore and Amelie-I STILL listen to these soundtracks and I fell in love with them a long time ago.
This was really hard but I have to go with Pulp Fiction, love it! Thank you!
2001 Space Odyssey
Call me crazy, but the Labamba sountrack is the only one that stands out in my mind.
favorite soundtrack is VANILLA SKY. Sets a good ambient, dreamlike mood. Crowe has a great ear for pop music in film, and his wife's (Nancy Wilson) score hits the right notes. Jeff Buckley, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Sinead O'Connor - Can't beat it!
without a doubt, Shortbus
Tough question - Maybe Orson Welles's Touch of Evil, score by Mancini...
It's tough to narrow it down to only one. Almost Famous might seem an obvious selection, but one that I always turn up when it shuffles up is Wild West West. But, if I could listen to only one, for hours on end, day after day, it would have to be Pink Floyd's The Wall. And since I did just that on a long programming project a few years back, I know it's not just idle speculation.
La Vie En Rose!
Garden State, followed by The Big Chill.
I have to go with " Dangerous Minds" for one song. "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio and the wonderful music styling of LV.
Has to be "Titanic".
It's gotta be "Once".
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with Yo-Yo Ma
The Last Temptation of Christ (aka Passion by Peter Gabriel)
The soundtrack to Angus. Good amount of lighter punk.
My favorite is Amelie as well. Also, I really like the Magnolia soundtrack (more of a Movie to a soundtrack than the other way around :-).
Grease
hands down, the Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack wins! the perfect mix of original compositions from Mark Mothersbaugh and popular songs by performers i love.
The Godfather
I really enjoy the Babel soundtrack.
Grosse Pointe Blank for the 'way bitchn' 80's music and Witness for the classical music.
Quadrophenia!
My favorite movie soundtrack is Chariots of Fire from the movie of the same name.
The Graduate â the music is really well matched to each movie scene. Fantastic.
Within last 10 years, I really liked..
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Probably Pi or Gladiator but there are a lot of good ones already on this list like Black Orpheus, Garden State, Sound of Music, Clockwork Orange, 2001. LOL about Top Gun.
Best Soundtrack probably ever, would have to be "Once" hands down.

Thanks!
My favorite movie soundtrack is from Gone With the Wind. I actually have the original on a 78 from decades and decades ago.
Although I don't like it anymore, I don't think I can ever match the excitement that I once had for the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack (the Leonardo DiCaprio version).
detroit rock city rocks
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
(Coming in second place, more for fitting the movie well than for being something I listen to often, Pi.)
My favorite is the Vanilla Sky soundtrack, which beats out another Cameron Crowe movie, Almost Famous.
Fantastic soundtrack if you like industrial electronic, Spawn.
Rocky IV... LOL. Brings me back to my days as a kid in the 80s.
Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, for sure... I've never fallen out of love with it.
"Gone With the Wind"
Saturday Night at the Movies was about the only 'non-educational' TV we watched back in the day, and the GWTW theme was that show's theme as well.
I didn't know just what I was listening to until years later - when I finally saw GWTW. Now it take me back to the good old days.
Favorite movie soundtrack? The Danny Elfman score from Tim Burton's "Batman".
"Singles." What can I say? I'm a child of grunge.
Manhunter soundtrack
Steven Sodeburg's Solaris soundtrack by Cliff Martinez. Haunting ambient goodness
Soundtrack from Blade runner
gotta be "O Brother, Where art thou?"
The "Crooklyn" soundtrack for sure. Old school smooth jams and grooves.
purple rain
2001 Space Odyssey soundtrack.
The Blues Brothers
Once
I love the Grease Soundrtack.
Garden City.
rock on.
Rushmore.
Pulp Fiction was also brilliant but I don't listen to it anymore.
A Room with a View also.
'pee-wee's big adventure'..just kidding, always liked '2001 space odyssey'
It has to be "Wings of Desire" for me, for its pop songs, or "ichi The Killer" for the boredoms-spinoff instrumentals!
Lost in Translation
The soundtrack I listen to the most is "Hoosiers."
Until the End of the World
If you are testing out 5.1 or 7.1 speakers, there is only one Sound Track.
The Matrix.
The scene where the Huey is firing the 50 cal. rounds and you hear Very Low, lows and the brass shell casings hitting off of each other. Good times.
~Taz

I love the score to Dead Man Walking. Favorite Soundtrack would be Dazed and Confused though!
Got to be Bladerunner and the Tomas Crown Affair.
My favorite is the original Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope). I can listen to it and picture the movie, scene by scene.
Velvet Goldmine
Believe it or not...Chariot's Fire seem to be my all time favorite...very inspirational music
Goodfellas
The Wackness
For me, it has to be Singles.
PJ, The Pumpkins, Soundgarden AND Hendrix! AND a Zeppelin cover! Mudhoney, Alice in Chains etc.. Are you kidding me?!
Hi,
I like the soundtrack for "The Life Aquatic." Seu Jorge playing David Bowie songs in Portuguese on the acoustic guitar... wild.
Lynda
I gotta go with Garden State soundtrack, but only since I've entered my 30s and mellowed out. A few years ago, I wouldn't have considered it - but now, I listen to it pretty often.
a favorite is tough, but i do love "The Royal Tenebaums" ost
Has to be footloose soundtrack
Nora
neneelynn@yahoo.com
Ok. My favorite is the Singles soundtrack. But, based on the number of pure plays, start to finish, I have ranked my top 4 below (in honor of High Fidelity, which isn't on the list).....
1.Reality Bites - great soundtrack from start to finish. I wore this one out.
2. Singles soundtrack - Drown by the Pumpkins is excellent and was part of the beginning of Steven Malkmus's hatred for the band. Great Westerberg tunes....heck nearly everything is great on it.
3. Swingers - I'm Beginning to See the Light is definitely my favorite. Favreau always picks some great tunes in his flicks.
4. Dazed and Confused - too many great tunes to name.
Lost Highway
The Bad News Bears soundtrack....
I always loved the Armageddon sound track.
Across the Universe :)
Across the universe is both my and my husbands favorite, Thanks for the chance to win

the original star wars soundtrack
I have to say my fave soundtravk would be O Brother Where Art Thou.
My favorite is the Rose
Empire Records... that's what I want. ;-)
Jerry Goldsmith's brilliant soundtrack for the first Star Trek motion picture. The flick is like watching paint dry, but the soundtrack is dripping with awe, wonder and beauty. Pity none of that was really up on the screen!
Lone Star
Goodfellas soundtrack because the way the sound and the film match up so perfectly.
Phantom of the Opera!! My kids & husband hate it, so if I need a little alone time I put it on & they all scatter! I then sing along!
a mighty wind- hilarious.
Spinal Tap or Leonard Rosenman's score from the 1978
animated version of The Lord of the Rings.
I love the soundtrack from the Crow
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Ocean's 12 - movie wasn't that great, but so much good jazz-rock fusion in the soundtrack!
My favorite movie soundtrack has go to be the lion king.
Nothen can beat a clasic soundtrack like that.
The Crying Game
For songs , I would have to go with the Commitments - for an overall sound trck that makes the movie, it would be 2001 A Space Odessey.

Unquestionably: Trainspotting. It was awesome then and is awesome now.

Pulp Fiction soundtrack.
The first Star Wars, it and the movie were magical the first day it came out.
'Round Midnight!
Probably the music from Forrest Gump
Dazed and Confused, for the 70s goodness.
I like the soundtrack from the older Star Wars movies, or anything by John Williams.
My favorite soundtrack is from the movie "GO"
Raiders of the lost ark!
the soundtrack to footloose or vision quest
Top Gun is tops!
TOMMY! ever since I was a young boy | *_* |
_______________________________________ â
I'm gonna have to give my full backing to the 'Once' soundtrack.
That said any of the soundtracks from Sofia Coppola's movies are tops as is the Harold and Maude soundtrack and the Pretty in Pink soundtrack.
Dazed And Confused. A compilation of the greatest rock hits of the 70's.

mr and mrs smith
Bladerunner - Vangelis
My brother and I always listened to the Beetlejuice soundtrack when we were kids, so now when I always notice when some of those songs are being recycled in new movie trailers.
I have also really liked the "Kids" soundtrack
The soundtrack for 2001 A Space Odyssey tho Vangelis doing Blade Runner is right up there!
Apocalypse Now, with Blade Runner and Raiders in the running. Jesus, I seem to have a Harrison Ford thing that needs attending.
Highlander. Queen knew how to do a soundtrack!
Man from Snowy River - it is perfect for a city girl like me to blast through the car stereo while heading west into the 'wilderness' of western Virginia!!!
But for at home Garden State is my go-to insomnia cure. I love falling asleep to this one.
~k
I'm obsessed with movie soundtracks, but to name a favorite, much harder: lately I've been revisiting the soundtracks of the Matrix movies.
Falling asleep? The Living Sea IMAX movie soundtrack, done by Sting. My roommate and I listened to it for 2 years in college every night.

orb1
Amelie
I haven't listened to it since I was in high school, but I used to LOVE the "I was a Teenage Zombie" soundtrack. I finally saw the movie a few years back (and it's kinda terrible), but the soundtrack is sort of a who's who of what they used to call "college rock" (this was before the phrase "alternative music" was coined). It's great!
apocalypse now
My favorite movie and movie soundtrack of all time is The Breakfast Club, I really love both. Thanks so much for such a wonderful giveaway!
furygirl3132[at]comcast[dot]net

The Constant Gardener, for Ayub Ogada's amazing vocals.
Grease is the word!
Hands down, Amelie. I love it so much that I walked down the aisle to it at my wedding!
garden state
Paris, Texas
Donnie Darko
Can't believe that noone on this hip board put "Midnight Express" featuring music by Giorgio Moroder. It won an Oscar for Best Original Score. You know, the film about the guy getting sent to a Turkish prison? The soundtrack would sound great on the Orb Mod1...
Amelie, hands-down.
Friday Night Lights
Marie Antoinette - love that album!
So I Married An Axe Murderer...classic 1990s alt pop!
Oh, I love the Wedding Singer soundtrack! Well, pretty much any soundtrack with Billy Idol.
Not enough appreciation for Talk to Me
Hmmm. Can't decide on a favorite. How about the one I've listened to quite a lot recently: The Darjeeling Limited.
All of Wes Anderson's soundtracks are pretty cool.
As a film buff I have too many to pick, but....
Soundtrack: Reservoir Dogs
Score: TIE: Punch-Drunk Love and Vertigo
Why like of course its Valley Girl! The scene where they walk in to the bar and The Plimsouls are playing.........
Depends what kind of mood I'm in; The Hours is my Favorite. Also Amelie and the Wedding singer, I like all kinds.

Trainspotting
Air's soundtrack for Sofia Coppola's film "The Virgin Suicides"
I think my current favorite movie soundtrack is for Requiem for a Dream.

I know it's not so original- but The Big Chill can't be beat.
Gotta love the Braveheart soundtrack.
This is hard but I would have to say my favorite is Good Will Hunting, Elliott Smith is my favorite artist of all time.
But anything Wes Anderson is also good, as well as Marie Antoinette, Into The Wild, and I Am Sam.
Once...no, Last of the Mohicans...no, The Royal Tennenbaums...no, really, it's Once...yeah...Once...
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Rushmore is pretty popular here, and I love it too, but ultimately I have to go with Woody Allen's Manhattan.
Gershwin, man! How can you go wrong?
Ennio Morricone's The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Soundtrack.
Beautiful Girls
About a boy. Put it on your ipod, walk through central park in New York, or Hyde Park in London. You'll get it.
the motorcycle diaries has a beautiful soundtrack
I'm in the film business (hear too many scores), so can I nominate video games soundtracks? Just as good!
Shadow of the Colossus
Katamari Damacy!
The soundtrack from O Brother, Where Art Thou? is amazing.
I love the soundtrack from Rent!
Dumbo. It was the first record I ever owned as a kid, and I played it every night for a year.
Ok, embarassingly enough....
The Phil Collins soundtrack for Disney's Tarzan is awsome. Give it a private listen on your earbuds someday.
The soundtrack to Whale Music (1994) is very moving. It made me a fan of the Rheostatics.
My favorite soundtrack is My Best Friend's Wedding. It is just a fun fantastic soundtrack
I would love to go with an old favorite, but Eddie Vedder knocked it out of the park with the "Into the Wild" soundtrack
Grease.
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.
RZA can't be beat.
Donnie Darko, without a doubt!
Prairie Home Companion, the movie.
Swingers!
My favorite soundtrack is Pride & Prejudice (2005 movie, not the 1995 BBC)! I am addicted. I bet it would sound even better coming at me through those dandy speakers!
Not a fan of soundtracks but my wife will put the Grease movie in everytime she is cleaning and sing along.
I second Black Orpheus...
Royal Tennenbaums.
Road to Perdition has some amazing scoring work.
Buena Vista Social Club.
Virgin Suicides is a great light-70s mix (except for the rockin' Heart tracks, that is). And it magically was released right after I heard I'm Not In Love in a Walgreen's, and then sang it to my older coworker to figure out who it was. He was like, Duh, 10cc.
The soundtrack to The Saint with Val Kilmer was one of the first CDs I ever bought, and it's still a big favorite!
2001
I know it's everyone's, but I really do love Garden State. Also the soundtrack from Basquiat is divine.
My boyfriend has been after me to upgrade my speaker system. Maybe this will be our lucky opportunity!
Times Square! Full of punk, new wave goodness
Lost in Translation. MBV!
godfather
Amelie...or High Fidelity
Singles, brings back all my old, dumb memories.
Hard to pick just one -Purple Rain, Hair, the Crow, I listen to these all the time plus many more
LOTR
I think it wold be the titanic ,I love those songs.
the color purple. "sistah, you been on my mind..."
i'd have to go with the soundtrack to "pi" -- clint mansell does an excellent job with the score (excerpted therein) and the rest of the collection is beyond reproach. this one introduced me to both massive attack and aphex twin, two bands well worth the effort.
Elliot Smith's soundtrack for Good Will Hunting
The Hunt For Red October. Every time I finish watching that movie (and it's more than a few times) I watch the credits to remind myself who the composer is.
Definitely Garden State... great movie, great soundtrack.
Currently, its Across the Universe. The Beatles songs sound great even though its not the Beatles singing them.
Hideous Kinky! Great great soundtrack.
Titanic
Tous les matins du monde. heartwrenchingly and hauntingly beautiful! i'd be crying tears of joy all day long hearing it on this sound system, for sure.
A Room With a View
Say Anything still rocks.
Tango!
Taxi Driver score by Bernard Herrmann
les miserables-london cast
Decline to state :)
I love the score to 2001 A Space Odyessy (and all S. Kubrick scores), but I listen to the soundtrack from Mo' Better Blues the most. The scene with the NYC sunrise and A Love Supreme playing makes me freak out every damn time!
Into the Wild. So god damn intense...
Cruel Intentions
Pretty looking sound system. I'll go with Juno. Have a nice weekend!
Judgement night the first dedicated rap meets rock album
