There are so many diaper bag choices these days. The field only narrows slightly once you have a clear idea of what you want to carry around with the peanut's supplies.
Skip Hop seems to design their bags with the modern parent in mind: someone who doesn't want their bag to scream "BABY!!!" but one that doesn't deny that in an average mom or dad's day, there are going to be poopy diapers, leaky bottles, cell phones and wallets to contend with.
They have a new one (read on for details) and we're giving one away.
Skip Hop’s new Via Messenger is a thoughtfully organized diaper bag with eighteen pockets, including a special AgION™ antimicrobial pocket to help keep germs away from clean. The crazy number of pockets might be a bit of over-kill. We only used about half of them, and tried use one side of the bag for adult stuff like keys and cell phones, and the other side for diapering supplies and other baby things.
The cushioned changing pad is a nice addition for those who like to use a pad on the go, although we didn't use it much (space is too precious) -- we're more the types to just lay down our coat.
The Via Messenger has Skip Hop’s Shuttle Clips, a strap and fastening system that attaches the bag to the handlebars of any stroller. It worked well on our MacLaren Techno, but be careful if it's heavy, it can tip an empty stroller, or one with a light baby inside.
Being bloggers on the go, we often have our laptops with us, so we like a bag that will accommodate our computers, as well as a few gDiapers and wipes. The messenger just barely fit it all for me with an almost 13" wide Mac Book. There was no room to try to jam anything else in, but I appreciate having limits. For daddy, so far the only diaper bag we've used that has been big enough for his Mac Book Pro is his briefcase.

Oh, the grey please! I'd pack baby wipes and cheerios!
I like the chocolate one, coz it comes with an orange changing pad. In my diaper bag: Diapee/Wipee pack, my video ipod (to soothe my son during long waits at the doctor's office), chewing gum, a tub of play dough (again, for the son!), a couple of books, a change of clothes for each kid, plastic bags for the soiled diapers, snacks, milk boxes, business cards, and information stickers to slap onto my kids' backs if we are in a busy place (zoo, disneyland, etc.)

sign me up for grey as well! this would be my husband's diaper bag. in it would go crayons, fruit snacks, and thomas the train for my 2 year old; a change of clothes, diapers and wipes, rattle, teething toy, mei tai for my 4 month old, and first aid kit, antibacterial wipes, and eucerin for both. ( i think i'd make use of all 18 pockets!)
I like the grey color best. I'd pack (besides diapers, of course!) lots of snacks, a bottle, crayons, coloring books, board books, Magnadoodle, a bib, and a change of baby clothes.
The brown one would be awesome - my husband is tired of carrying the pink one we have now. It really is a disaster. With his skin coloring, he's an autumn, and baby pink is just not his season. ;)

The red one, for a splash of color in the grey Seattle winter! My husband and I would load this up for our 3.5 year old and our 2 week-old, with books, nuts, computer (dad's), wipes and diapers, reading material for us, and changes of clothes.

couldn't be more timely as last week i lost our skip hop expo - loaded with sentimental items in addition to the essentials (long story - snowy day in minnesota, loading the boy & stroller into the trunk - oh that's right, the boy went in the back seat -, must have left the bag on the curb). my wife just emailed me (as a subtle reminder) the link to the skip hop dash bag a few hours ago. the gray skip hop looks & works great attached to our phil & ted's stroller. essentials include a toy (video ipod or laptop) for me, a toy for the little guy, dipes & wipes, waterless hand cleaner, rice chex... skip hop's design, quality & functionality are second to none from my vast (12 months) of experience.
Definitely grey with red. I've never packed a baby bag in my life, so I guess I have until May to learn.
The red one would be fun. I'd pack diapers, wipes and maybe a change of clothes. My two older kids are old enough to lug around their own stuff!
Oh this is perfect! I've been shopping bags and finally settled on one of the Skip Hop models to carry around for my baby due in August. I love the fact you can hook it to a stroller. I like the lime. What goes in it? The usual...diapers, wipes, spare clothes, a few toys, some odds and ends for my preschooler. It even matches my wallet!
I really like the brown and orange combo. What would I pack? Pretty much my whole life. At least a nursing cover, burp rags, extra outfit, blanket, diapers (we use cloth and they take up extra space!) wallet, cell, keys, snacks, water bottle. Etc, etc, etc. New babe is coming any day now and I've kind of forgotten what all we need to put in there...

In the IDEAL diaper bag I'd be able to carry LOTS of little toys as my little guy gets pretty bored with toys pretty quickly. Plus I'd also pack more than one burp cloth (which can take up a lot of extra space) for those especially messy occassions. (as well as all those other essentials of course) And we'd love to have a "sporty" red diaper bag.

What do I need those pockets for? Keeping tracks of the trillion things I seem to find it necessary to carry with me like stain wipes, baby tylenol (just in case), soft cloths for wiping baby noses and spit up, small bags of toddler snacks, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, sunscreen, extra hat, toys, books, tiny play-doh, extra baby outfit, cell phone, wallet, small pad of paper, crayons, pen, lotion, diaper, toddler cup, adult water bottle, tissues, band-aids, first aid ointment, diaper ointment, etc, in addition to the diapers and wipes. It would extra fantastic if it could also fit my new wrap!
My current diaper bag is just not cutting it now that I have a baby and a toddler.

I love the gray! Since I am a rookie, baby #1 is on the way, my best guest for what to pack: wipes, diaps, hooter hider, my cell/wallet.
I love the lime! I'd pack all of the usual bits for the boodle plus a magazine for me that I'd never, ever get to read.
I'm most excited about the quarantine section, not so much for diapers as for the endless, endless stream of wadded-up used tissues. How can such a tiny nose produce so much slime?!

What I'd pack for my two boys:

- First 1,000 Days Baby Journal. I write in it whenever I'm in the waiting room at the doctor's office or find myself in another quiet moment. If I didn't carry it with me I'd never write anything down.
I love the lime one! I would be able to carry plenty of Goldfish crackers for my little guy, plus my laptop!
loving the gray one. i don't like to carry more than one bag around at any time, so this will do triple duty as a bag for work/baby/purse while I do double duty with two youngs under the age of 2 - one of them is on the way. We'll carry one set of diapers since we use the BG 2.0 one size (yay), wipes, a tube of Burt's Bees diaper ointment, but double spare onesies, a bottle (will be b-feeding #2 also), small container of cheerios and a toddler biscuit, an extra shirt for me, and the only my necessities that I carry for myself these days: lip balm, a pen, keys and wallet.

I too am expecting my first (via adoption!) and am guessing on what I will pack. From what I have learned from observation, I will be sure to always have an extra outfit, the necessities, a snack, and a couple of books or toys too. And of course, the laptop and digital camera for mom. :)

I like the brown or grey one, although I could go for any color. I won't need it for a baby for a few months but could stash my knitting, laptop, water bottle, snack, and newspaper in it in the mean time. Once the baby arrives I would also put in wipes, gdiapers, extra outfit, warm cap and a sun hat, nursing cover, blanket (in San Francisco you always need an extra blanket), a pacifer, and a bottle of wine. Okay I might leave the wine at home.

The charcoal one is purdy! I'd pack all the usuals, diapers and such, except I'd leave out the toys. My kids would much rather play with *my* toys and snacks: a sudoku book and pen, a bite of my protein bars, triskets and apricots, watching me play the DS, watching Sesame Street podcasts.

I'd love the chocolate one. In my ideal diaper bag(remembering that this is my ideal, not reality) I'd put my knitting, my camera and a novel. I'd have some moo cards to pass out to all the moms I'd meet and a pad of paper to jot down their addresses and my grand thoughts on life. There'd be no diapers or extra clothes, because my toddler would use the potty and keep himself clean. There'd be fresh cut fruit and a perfectly clean sippy cup with filtered water in it for snack time.
Now this packing wouldn't do the trick for reality, but that diaper bag does look really cool :-)

Ooh, lime. I am a nut for lime and lots of pockets. My ideal bag would have the purse essentials (phone, keys, emergency change), food for baby AND Mom and Dad, cleanup stuff (diapers, wipes, tissues), and toys and Dad's Nintendo DS for amusement.
What would I pack? Everything! This bag looks like it has room for so many things....pacifiers, diapers, extra set (or two) of clothes, burp cloths, snacks for my toddler, and books.......lots of books! I would love to have this bag in Chocolate Brown.
Definitely Gray- my favorite color, then I could have my current tote just for library books, and in this store our snacks, sippy cup, diapers, wipes, binky, coloring book, crayons and my keys, wallet, etc.

I'd love the black one (I always go for the bag that dad will carry too...). As for what will go in it - diapers, wipes, changing pad, sippy for the baby, nalgene for me, snacks (i like the cheddar crackers too so that works for both of us), cloths for wiping up spills, a toy and all my items that are constantly moving from my purse to the diaper bag (wallet, keys, phone) - and if i happen to remember while walking out the door - the camera :)
Can't go wrong with Grey! Since I love snagging stuff w/o digging around, I'm certain I'd use ALL the pockets. One for pacifier, another for snacks, another for burp cloths, snacks, toys...I could go on and on.

We'd pack extra clothes, cloth dipes, cloth wipes, small bottle of our wipe solution, the small wet bag for the dirty dipes so this beautiful bag doesn't get soiled and a small bottle of cleanwell. We'd also use it to stash our stuff like a sigg bottle for water, keys, wallet, phone. So fun! pick me pick me!

I'd love the lime one (but would take gray too)! I think it would look great with our navy stroller. We seem to always need 2 bibs, an extra large changing pad for use in public restrooms, a clean outfit, diapers, wipes, a few little toys, a board book and cheerios. Pick me! Pick me! :) I Love the lime green one! With 3 boys under 3, I would pack a nanny if I could, but I doubt she'd fit. Everything else should fit like a charm though, multiple diapers, a change of clothes for the littlest, sippy cups, snacks, books and toys! Oh, and my stuff too.
I'd love the grey one, mostly b/c of the pink changing pad! My number one product to keep in a diaper bag is GAS MEDICINE!! I like small pockets because this is the kind of product you're always reaching for, and it will quickly find it's way to the bottom of a bag. :)
Lime, Lime, Lime!!! I always pack just the important stuff like diapers and wipes. Now that my baby is getting older it also helps to have a couple of toys. Love the detailing around the flap.
My choice would be the black one. As for what to pack? Critical stuff like diapers, wipes, and snacks. I also can't go anywhere without my phone, moleskine notepad, a couple of pens, and sometimes a laptop.
I love this bag! I even registered for it already (due with 1st in June). The brown is my favorite. I'd use it for all the usual suspects for baby - diapers, wipes, blanket, nuk, and toys as well as some of the newer items I wasn't aware I would need being a first time mom - desitin, breast pads, tucks??, nipple cream and then I'd fill the rest of the space with my personal stuff - ipod, wallet, keys, cell, book, lip gloss, gum and candy. I think that's it.

I love skip hop and currently have the Duo (I think that's what it's called) but there is so much spilled milk in there a new one is due!! :) I would love the one in Lime and I would love to be able to fit all the necessities, plus a change of clothes for the little one, and not have it bulging at the seams! Ohh, I pack for every situation: diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, snacks, candy, wallet, special diaper bag toys, my endless supply of coupons and my cellphone, sometimes winter gear and sometimes summer. I like that blue grey bag...its so cute!

Definitely the brown as it is my all-time favorite color! As to what to put in it...that is still to be determined. However, it has been helpful to read all of the above posts. Hopefully, I will figure it out before this little girl arrives in coming weeks!
My husband and I both would pick the gray bag, its beautiful! I always pack our diaper bag with diapers, wipes, snacks, toys, books, anti-bactierial soap, table-toppers for when we eat out, baggies for dirty diapers, an extra set of clothing, tissues, water. Also our necessities such as wallet, phone, keys etc. Thank you.

With 4 babies worth of experience I think I can figure out what to put in the brown bag with orange changing pad! Diapers and wipes, of course, bottles, a clean cloth diaper for spit ups, sippy cup, cheerios, clean outfit, shoes, toys, pacifiers, diaper rash med, teething gel, pain reliever, baby food, spoon, bibs, brush, nail clippers, etc.
I would love the red one. Would put a change of clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles and formula.
I love Skip Hop! I love the red bag, it is bright and fun but doesn't scream adult ;-) or baby.
The essentials I plan on packing bum genius diapers, wipes, wet bag, extra cloths, nursing cover up, toys, wallet, cell phone and of course camera.
Lime! Since I've given up carrying my pocketbook and now just carry a diaper bag, I'd kill for the compartments to carry the cellphone, diapers, pacifier, wipes, snacks, toys, changing pad, Purell (mommy's a little OCD), my wallet, pen, and dog poop bags for when I've got the whole family with me.
I like the grey! Lots of little side compartments or straps for the little stuff & plenty of room for the diapers.

I love the brown! I was just saying how I needed a new diaper bag, but would probably never manage to get one!
My ideal diaper bag is packed with diapers, wipes, sippy cupsX2, an extra bottle of water, organic snacks, a change of clothes for the little one and at least a shirt for my eldest, sunglasses, keys, wallet, emergency contacts, a few small toys, and a pad of paper w/pen.
Now, all of these things ARE contained in my diaper bags, but along with them are old raisins mushed into the bottom, a dirty baby sock or two, a pair of sandals in the middle of winter, and loads of random papers. lol

Aside from the necessities for the baby's eats, drinks, poops, and skin (eczema), she needs to be entertained. A few rotating books and fingerpuppets. I even have a book with fingerpuppets.

I'd go with grey. I dig the red changer. In addition to the usual dipe supplies, I like to carry a camera, some little toys for either kid, a bag of crayons and a pad of paper. Lately I also need a couple of hats for the new baby since they're always popping off and getting lost.

I'm in for the gray or black...My slightly tattered one is currently suffering from our outing today...zero diapers, dirty clothes, a few empty baby food containers for the recycling, cheerio crumbs, a blanket with leaves on it, and a few action figures. for my little one: his favorite board book - the hungry caterpillar; his new sippy cup; a bottle; diapers and wipes; some earth's best baby food; a bumkins bib for eating; LOTS of bandannas that we use as drool bibs; an extra onesie; and a toy
for me: hand lotion; sunglasses; wallet; planner; cell phone; keys; water bottle; and a camera.
With baby "dos" on the way, we'd use the grey to pack in the usual double dose of diapers, toys, books, snacks and the camera. And a exciting book for me for if, and when they both nap on the road...

I LOVE the chocolate one. Skip Hop diaper bags are AMAZING. I keep the following in my bag; diapers (two sizes), wipes, burp cloth, hand sanitizer, board book and two matchbox cars.
I've gotta say I love the black. It will go with everything. What would I pack? Diapers, wipes, a bottle, water, my cell phone, burp cloths, a clean outfit and snacks.
The grey for me. I'd pack like three pacifiers, diapers and wipes, foamy hand sanitizer (the kind with no alcohol), a changing pad (but it looks like they've got one), a bottle, some toys, my wallet, my iphone, keys, lip balm, gum, stuff for my older kids to draw with, a bib, and the most essential of all, the baby's favorite stuffed bunny, of which we own seven, so that we can never be without it.
I love the chocolate. We pack wipes, diapers, snacks, a couple of changes of clothes, DD's daily medication, crayons and paper...as well as my wallet.

Three different sizes of diapers (because we're crazy and have three kids 3 and under), two sippies, a ton of snacks, some Matchbox cars, a few books, a cellphone and wallet, crayons (in a plastic bag so they can't get places they shouldn't be), and if i could i'd try to fit some spare sanity, since i tend to lose track of my sanity lately.

I don't understand the concept of a diaper bag so I haven't bought one. Why are they better than a regular bag? They seem extremely popular judging by the posts here. I guess I would liked to be entered into the contest so I can check out the hype. I don't have a color preference. I normally carry 3 extra diapers, 2 packs of wipes, a straw cup, a bowl of snacks, my Boba Fett action figure that my son can play with if he starts to get antsy, cell phone, iTouch, wallet, keys and a clump of faded receipts from various stores.

Kid's not here yet, but I love the "not a babybag" style of this. I dig the green and the brown. I have never been a purse girl, and feel sad when I see folks out and about with the over-the-top character-laden diaperbags. I want to be a hip, cool parent who looks like I have it together. Not to mention I want the hubby to be completely at home with the idea of diapering.
I'd love room for all the essential baby things and my own junk - iPhone, Keys, Wallet, etc. Squeezing in my 12 inch Powerbook would be a nice bonus sometimes too.
As our new stroller is moss green, I think I'd like to stuff the brown one the best. The things that we can't leave home without are the basics: diapers, wipes, changing pad, snacks, etc. We also MUST have our stickers and sticker book, night-night and usually our rubber duck.

lime - it looks like an ideal bag to pack all those little and necessary things - I'd take the laptop, water, crayons, and extra warm hats and socks, among others.

I'd pack the basics: wipes, diapers, a diaper cream I rarely use, various snacks that are smushed and inedible by the time they are needed, a brush, several hair ties, some crayons and paper, extra infant socks, & my wallet. I'm due in 5 days, so I'm not too sure what goes in the diaper bag yet. I guess diapers, cream, baby wipes, burp cloth, bottles & snacks (later?), toys, extra clothes (?), and a baby journal to remember it all by.

WHat a great bag, this would be perfect for my husband who refuses to carry a "girly" diaper bag. I think he would like the grey one the most. I would of course fill it with the girliest accessories that I could find! Pink burp cloth and pink formula bottles.

yes, please. ours was stolen recently. i would carry diaper covers and prefolds, washcloths, burp cloths, our new camera (also stolen), notebooks, pens, wallet, keys, sunglasses, random bits of paper, receipts, etc. in my new grey bag.

Let's see ... what's in our diaper bag. Diapers, obviously. A still camera and a video camera. Usually a snack baggie and a sippy cup. A change of clothes, wipes, butt cream ... baby tylenol and our tasty diner. And a flask for me.
Amusingly enough, last year when looking for a new gym bag I ended up buying a stylish diaper bag--because it had a lot of great features, including the millions of pockets. So I'd love a new bag in chocolate, but as a non-parent--my ideal diaper bag gets packed with sneakers, workout clothes, and pilates gear. ;)
Oh, charcoal would be perfect. Pull-ups, cookies, apple slices, tissues, wet wipes, Little Einstein DVD for the car, sippy cup, change of clothes for the little guy would all fit nicely in this. The lining in our (cheap) current bag has been torn to shreds and papa/mama needs a brand new bag.
Green green green! Mine would be full of picture books for the toddling one, diapers and a bottle for the littlest one, laptop for me, and snacks for all of us.
This would make a great Mother's day gift for my daughter in law! Hard to choose between red or grey - but since my son is a great dad and often has my grandson in tow, perhaps the grey would be a better choice. Laptops, baby stuff, whatever! looks like a great item!

I'd love to have the red one. I am in the process of collecting primary colored things for baby when he gets here. I'd love to have color coordinated days-- one day we will be all red, the next we will be all blue and so on. (^__^)

Since we're talking about packing the ideal bag, I'm imagining we'd be having the ideal day so in my bag I'd have suntan lotion and sunscreen for both my babies. We'd obviously have some nappies and wipes, some water and raisins and a supersoaker to have fun at the park with. Since we'd be soaking by the time we leave the park, I'd also have a handtowel and a change of clothes for the kids as well as a shirt for me. If the ideal bag was a Mary Poppins-esque bag I'd also have an umbrella, coats, wellies, gloves, scarves and hats since we live in Scotland and the weather can't be relied on!
Since my Macbook IS my only baby at the moment, I would pack that. And on one of the outside pockets maybe squeeze a water bottle. And cellphone. And snacks. And wallet. And pens and notebook. And lipgloss. And handcream. And tissues. And sunglasses. And suncreen. And keys. And bunch of other stuff.

I love the lime one. Knowing me I would have good intentions of packing it real well and then leave the house with an empty diaper bag (it has happened before).

I would love the black one because it's simple and the obscene looking stains my son makes might not show up as much as other colors (I'm sure the stroller clips would be awesome too). As much as I'd like to be able to also fit my son into the bag, I would love to put my laptop/keys/wallet, some snacks, a change of clothes, his diapers...and the number one thing that saves me from complete public meltdowns...his TOYS.
I would absolutely love the green. I would put diapers, wipes, outfit with extra socks, a few toys, phone, keys, daily planner, wallet and of course the medicine you never know when you will need such as orajel, Tylenol and diaper cream for the just in case moment.

I would love the chocolate brown skip hop via messenger bag to replace the skip hop bag my husband recently lost (don't ask!). I think the lime green diaper bag is really unique. Most diaper bags are either blue or black or brown. This color stands out in a crowd! I would really love to have this diaper bag to use for my granddaughter who will be born in the next few weeks!

Our first child was born three months ago. He's the first grandchild on both sides, and the first great grandchild on one side. Lots of first happening; like the first time we went out and realized a diaper bag needs to have more in it than just diapers and wipes.
I am still searching for the perfect diaper bag. The majority I looked at have one large black hole of a compartment. That is not helpful for organizing all the diapers, wipes, 3 changes of clothes, socks, hats, emergency formula & nipples (for when dad is out solo), burp cloths, spare blankets, Ziploc bags, pacifier, Eucerin, lanolin, cotton balls, hand sanitizer, books, toys, and water bottles we need to carry!
I’d love to be toting the lime bag. Skip Hop bags sound like the way to go.

We're beyond the diaper stage and into lots of toys, snacks, water bottles and plenty of wipes for those little messy accidents. Of course a change of clothes comes in handy. Beyond that it all depends on the day, the time of year and the type of outing we're going on.

What a great giveaway! I LOVE the lime-colored bag, and I've eyed these Skip Hop bags for so long. They're lovely.
As for what we tote around in our bag currently? What isn't there is the better question? We have a stash of diapers, books, baby wipes, toys, pacifiers, and I also use it as a purse (wallet, keys, a small makeup bag, etc). So much goes into it!

I would love the black one. The most important this I pack is my son's epi-pen. That has to be quickly and easily available. Other than that - I always have the standards (diapers, wipes, spare outfit, a book, a snack, and some anti-bacterial lotion)

This sounds like the perfect bag! I'm always looking for the diaper bag that my husband would be willing to carry.
I'd like the red one for my wipes, pampers, bottles, baby bowl and spoon, extra food/snack, portable cream/powder, and of course the extra clothes for those emergencies.
I am going to say the chocolate one or the gray one. Too hard to choose. I would put diapers of course in it. Wipes because you need wipes for everything. My goodness they always get so sticky dirty those kids. Lavender scented baby powder to make my daughter smell sweet. Puffs her favorite snack ok I lie its both of ours but I say they are hers. :) Extra clothes and childrens tylenol and q-tips yes its random but youd be shocked at all it can do. One of my biggest problems with diaper bags is that I want a separate spot for my own little purse that I can remove, because I might go out alone and hate that I need to re-pack my wallet, phone, keys... drives me crazy!
