Even the tiniest person has a tale to tell. A few years ago, on a visit home, we came across our childhood baby book which we'd never seen before. It had likely been hidden away out of embarrassment because only the first few pages had been filled in - our date of birth, weight and height, godparents...that was about it! (We'd like to imagine our older sister's baby book made out better, but somehow we doubt it.) Tiny Tales helps you record your memories without boxing you in with fill-in-the-blank answers to predetermined "memories." You decide what's important to you.
Lara Frankovitch created Tiny Tales while pregnant with her son, Trey. Lara believes that life is in the details and our memories should be, too. She believes that his first spaghetti dinner is as important as his first smile. Her first full-blown tantrum as important as her first tooth.
She broke the baby book mold by designing simple index cards, with just a few prompts, which are then filed in a clear acrylic box. Tuck a few in your purse so you can jot down that funny joke you heard them tell at the playground. Tabbed dividers will help you sort them by age so you can keep adding tales as long as you want. Tiny Tales is a great way to record those pregnancy milestones, too (like the first time you were offered a seat on the subway).

Would you like to start recording both the wild (and mundane) tales of your tiny one? We have two Tiny Tales kits to give away! To enter, leave a brief "tale" you'd like to record in the comments below before Monday, 3/10 at Noon EST and we'll randomly choose two winners.
If you're ordering a Tiny Tales kit for yourself or for a gift, you can use discount code OHDEEDOH through March 20th to receive two free refill notepads with your order.
(Thanks, Lara!)

'first laughter' would be good one...
my husband and i are expecting our first baby, and decided not to find out the gender. when i asked our friend's three year old son whether he thought it was a boy or a girl, he said (very seriously), "well, we'll just have to wait and see if it comes out of your stomach with boy clothes or girl clothes on."
first camping / road trip will be notable.
@ 13 months we have a lot of firsts & wonderful experiences ahead of us. first steps are just beginning, but i can't wait until this summer when we can have a first hand-in-hand walk to the park on a warm summer evening.
first smile
I didn't write down anything with my daughter, which I am realizing now that my son is cutting his first teeth... I need to jot these things down!
Our 11 month old is bound to start talking before too long and I want to write down all the funny random things that he says that you always think you'll remember, but you never do.
First shriek!
We're expecting our first baby too. I would have liked to record the first kick.
i'm expecting too. i think first time meeting mommy and daddy would be pretty cool to make note of!
I've been using the calendar on my fridge. Something prettier would look better 25 yrs. from now. LOL. Yesterday I wrote: It's great that you find things funny now, like the Jungle Book movie. You say to me while laughing "funny mommy". You finally "get" what is funny to you.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Other fun "alternative" baby books are Baby's First Tattoo: A Memory Book for Modern Parents by Jim Mullen and Barry Blitt and The Inappropriate Baby Book: Gross and Embarrassing Memories from Baby's First Year by Jennifer Stinson.
My son is 2 and just started telling very basic knock-knock jokes. Baby #2 is due any day now and I can't imagine what fun things he will do!
Denese - my mom did the same thing and saved the calendars, then made a scrapbook by month and included the cut up squares in with the pictures. This is a lot more fun than my other fill in the blank baby book.
First tantrum! Just achieved. Kinda hard not to laugh once you figure out there's nothing you can do but wait it out.
First time she pulls her diaper off during naptime and spreads the mess around...
My mom actually put the wrong year when noting in my babybook when I started kindergarten. Unless I started at four and then got held back a year without my knowledge.
By the way, where can we use that discount code (assuming we don't win)? Am I missing the link somewhere?
First time sleeping through the night! (I'm waiting longingly for that one...)
Oh, I would LOVE this for my three little ones!
Today I would've written down an episode with my five year old. We were rocking out in the kitchen and she asked who we were listening to. I offhandedly said "They Might be Giants," forgetting my two year old's fear of giants (and scuba divers, planetariums, and the like). She turned and reassured dear Jasper that she was sure they weren't. "Mommy says they might be giants, but I'm sure they're not! Giants are extinct!"
First bath in the big boy tub with his older brother!
I love recording those little comments that come out of their mouths.
A recent favorite from my 4 year old: In response to "What are you doing???" While spinning around on the floor breakdancing style, "Just trying to be awesome."
I think mine would be from a recent event - my 2.5 year old daughter was literally trying to smash one of her friends into the corner of the sofa. I removed her and we had to talk about it, why we don't smash our pals, etc. When I asked her why she did it, she said, "I really wanted my phone back, Mommy." Living with a two year old is like living within the pages of Lord of the Flies.
Thanks for adding the link!
first smile. classic "first" but always heart-melting.
I would love a set of this, looking forward to our '1st' EVERYTHING, from seeing the sun to throwing up on dad's clothes (even if he doesn't know i'm looking forward to that)...
My daughter just started climbing up and going down the slide by her self. Her brother was so patient with her. She would get scared at the top so he would carefully take her down the slide holding her. She finally got the courage to do it herself the other day!
Hi, What a wonderful idea! Why didn't I think of these adorable cards?! I would begin by posting the reactions of my family when I told them I was expecting. There had not been a baby in the family for several years! Thanks,Cindi
Jakey just learned how to crawl - much to his fathers joy and my dismay. I forgot just how fast these little people can move!!
This is a ingenious product. I wish I had had one with my first - his book is pathetic! I figure I can make up for it by starting with this for what he is doing now?
I would like to record - first time she understood a joke. That first little person laughter when you know you haveb een understood is soooo precious.
rap9r(at)hotmail.com
Haha. First time he realized "Hey, I can't see my back! I can see your back!"
First time he says Mama :)
first long road trip (vacation)
I think I would have to record the first time I had a stranger touch my pregnant belly. Ick.
I like to record the little things like the first time I had to leave a store due to sheer embarassment as my toddler repeated loudly "Mommy I make Poo Poo". Or, the first time I was peed on by my son and I looked up because I thought the ceiling was leaking.
The first time either of mine slept through the night....oh wait...still hoping for that one!
I need to remember to jot down all the crazy things my 4 1/2 says. He's like a little encyclopedia of information that he's heard and remembered, but hasn't got quite right. The other day I heard him explaining to his (2 month old) brother that his ballon was filled up with "helium, which is a noble gas that makes balloons go up. It's just another way to say air".
how about the first time the sweet angel poops out of their diaper in a high chair at a swanky restaurant? as if you had any business bringing a baby to an establishment like this in the first place...
not to forget the mad dash to the car with your diaper-only baby.
I would like to commemorate the day I received my first unsolicited advice from a stranger. Apparently, accepting any sort of pain medication during labor is "not in God's plan".
Good to know. Yet another reason for God to be mad at me.
I'd love to record the first time my baby girl says Mama. Hasn't happened yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
I would write about how my three year old made our three month old giggle out loud for the first time.
First smile for Mom from my newborn son!
oooh, I've been looking at buying some of these!! I'd record all of the funny things my 2 year old is saying. He is a non stop talker and even though it drives me crazy now, I want to remember everything :-)
4meggs@gmail.com
first steps.
I'd love to record the day that my baby girl first said "uh-oh" ... as she was throwing her bowl of food across the kitchen. ;)
would record everyday things here and there
i didn't write anything down with my children i would like to start one for my grandson
Oh, I would love to have these for our two little ones. I tried to do a planner and write down little things every day in the planner, but I never have it with me. I do write down things when I pick them up from daycare on the art work about what they did that day they made such and such, so I totally think these would work for me. I would have so written about last night when all of a sudden my two year old started cleaning up, like literally cleaning up, all the puzzles in the puzzle box, the train set in the wagon, the blocks in the block box, even his tennis shoes to the front hallway and then I realized why, he started smiling and saying "please, bouncy, please," my little munchkin had in his little mind been thinking if I clean everything up I can get the bouncy house. Well, it was dinner time so I of course said no, but he kept on, but very nicely until I broke :)
we just started solids- so of course that would be in there... but then I would also have to share about his first "real" poop!
My son is going to his first birthday party of a friend tomorrow. He is so excited. I'd love to record that!
First time my husband felt our baby inside me would be my first record. Oh, that and the day we found out I was pregnant.
We have started having a lot of hilarious things. My daughter has this funny face grin when she is doing something wrong. The other day, she was at my laptop knowing she was not supposed to be. I asked what she was doing. She just flashed that huge grin and started waving at me like it was going to be okay.
I would definitely record the first moment we realized our son was "ticklish" -- he had the funniest facial expression, just what you would expect to see when experiencing that feeling for the first time!
We went to the zoo, and he just kept screaming jaguar jaguar...not all that clearly as he is 15 months old, but it as hysterical and he was thrilled!!
What a great idea! With three kids, this would make documenting their fun sayings so much easier than trying to remember them all!
first smile and first coo.
first haircut
Hmmm... I think I would write down my daughters first steps- just last week! GREAT giveaway!
My friend Suzanne can use this to record all of Dylan's milestones.
I would record my little one's doctor visit today because it is a first cold.
I would love to record all the funny things my girls say throughout the day! They do keep me laughing!! Thanks!!
I've been so bad with my first baby! I haven't recorded a thing and he is changing so much these days! I could fill pages and pages each day...the latest...he wakes up every morning chanting "grapes, cherries?, grapes, cherries?" because they are his favorite fruit...it's so cute because he's only 19 months old!
Today I would've written how she cracked up at us in the mirror.
First time he peed on me--2 seconds old
First time he peed on someone else--9 days old
First time he peed on his own face--4 weeks old
Ah, the magic of little boys...
What a great idea! It would be fun to track all those tiny accomplishments like first steps, first smiles, first taste of solid food, etc. So many firsts are coming up! I'm too excited...
Thanks,
Marissa :)
enter me please, thank you for the contest
her first words
I'm a runner, so baby's first ride in the BOB as Mommy goes for a run.
The first time I held my son. He was three pounds and very sick when he was born so I had to wait 2 weeks to hold him.
Yesterday, at a diner, I let my just-turned-two DD try a little bit of my chocolate milkshake. She took a sip, then asked sweetly, "Put right here on table?" and patted the spot in front of her. We nearly died laughing!
I'd like to record the first time I felt the baby move - it was such a wild kick my belly popped up!
I'd like to write about the first time my little one gave me hugs and kisses. How priceless they are! And there are so many other things I'd love to write about, but forget since I don't have a good place to write them down. I'd love to win this so much!
Would love this for my 2 year old nephew. Last weekend he "did something for the first time": he requested that his Grampa play "Ukelele Lady" on the guitar (Grampa plays after dinner and this is his signature hit). So cute.
New grandbaby coming in July. My daughter in law would love this to keep up with those special moments.
My daughter needs this for the baby.
I already forgot when exactly was my son's first laugh! Definitely need this.
I would love to record my daughter singing, she is quite the ham and sings to tons of music. It would be priceless in the future!
I'd love to record my son's sucess in potty training. If I win, hopefully that day will come shortly after getting this!
I am so horrible at baby books maybe this is what I would need. First smile :-)
I tried to keep up with my son's book, but alas, like many others, I've missed a lot of important dates and memories. I love the idea of this card file since you are not locked into finding the right page. This would make a great shower gift too.
this would be great to have since i have 2 people right now that are expecting soon. One friend that lives far away now and my boss who looks like she is going to pop any day now.
I love this. It makes it so easy to record memories!
This is awesome! I can never seem to keep up with those baby books! Id love to record all of the funny little things my little ones say!

My daughter's sentence just get longer and longer - I think it would be fun to record those! Her first 4 word one was "No Mommy, Daddy chair" when I sat in the 'wrong' place.
My 3 year old recently asked me to be her best friend. That's a moment to remember forever~
What a wonderful idea.
How about "first time baby slept more than 2 hours"
Yep, that was my favorite moment.
his first piece of artwork, i.e. crumpling and eating his placemat would go in there.
if i could only remember.....
Please don't bounce my entry, but I don't have a tale. I do have a good friend with a brand new baby, and that makes for a good story in and of itself. I'll bet she has lots of tales. If i don't win one of these in the give away, I'll have to be old fashion and just buy her one as a gift. I know she will love it.
That is so cute! I like the idea of just jotting down one or two sentences. No one wants to read the whole story of their mother in labor, but little notes on the cute things you did as a kid would be fun to read later on. Not to mention the fact that you forget all of that stuff as a parent, later on. This would be so fun to have! I have a 5 month old daughter, Caiden. And a 3 year old son, Elliott. They are so cute together! Elliott is the only one who can make Caiden laugh... Their stories would probably be often mixed together. Caiden's middle name is Keats, but whenever someone asks what Elliott's baby sister's name is, he says, "Caiden Peats!" and then he says to her in the voice you use for babies, "awww, Caiden Peats, Hi Caiden Peats!" and then he used other various nicknames that I have no idea where he came up them.
First time saw a kitty!
at the age of 2 months, our daughter was diagnosed with a disease that causes benign tumors to grow in her brain (and other organs). these growths in turn cause her to have seizures, which cause her to be physically delayed. so for my husband & i, every little thing she does is a miracle and something to be happy about. she rolled over all on her own yesterday (she's 8 months) and you would have thought we won the lottery! and even though we are extremely thrilled when she achieves these major milestones, we also cherish all the little moments that make her our darling.
My sons are really playing and telling stories together. I'd love to write down the song that my older son (4) sings to my younger (2) at bedtime.
My son at four says "If noone knows where Timbukto is, do they know where is Timbukone is?
I'd record waiting for labor to start...3 days to go!
first time my son bit me on the shoulder because he was teething... ouch!
The first time he figured out that he couldn't tickle himself. Poor thing looked so confused. He was sitting in the tub and kept reaching under his arm, then looking up at me confused, then looking under his arm, then back at me.
Watching my granddaughter being born and telling her about the joy and the awe I felt at that moment.
The first time my 2-year-old daughter helped her little one-year-old brother by quietly taking his hand and telling him "it would be okay" as we walked across a busy parking lot.
My son just started crawling a week ago so these cards would be perfect for all his milestones!
My 9 month old loves to clap...all the time! We just will put on her CD and "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" starts and no matter what she's doing, she stops to clap!
1st day of school
I am adopting a baby from China. This would be great for recording firsts with her!
Seeing as I haven't even started Connor's baby book yet this would be a great help!!
I blogged you too

After 3 miscarriages I want to record every kick. Thanks for the giveaway.
When I was a little girl, my mom kept all of our firsts and cute things we said in her recipe box.....What a good idea
someone had to make something just like this but better....
I would love to have this to keep my grandbabies treasures in.
Thanks.......
I would love to have this for my one one the way. I would like to have those memories recorded of all the firsts!
Oh, I'd love this! I was ashamed to show his baby book at his first b-day party yesterday because all the interesting things hadn't been filled in yet...
My tiny tale would be from last night! When giving our son a bath, we moticed a funny smell. Sure enough, he'd pooped in the tub (probably 'cause he was all relaxed.) We proceeded to take him out of the baby tub so we could dump out the poo...and there was more! He pooped all over his legs and it was half solid/ half runny. Ewwww. Thank goodness my husband was holding him over the real tub. It was a LOT of poo. And it smelled horrible...possibly as a result of the prunes he'd eaten earlier. Either way, at that point we had to move bathtime into the OTHER bathroom, just to escape the smell while cleaning up our little stinker!
I'd like to record the birth stories for my kids in there. I have them on notebook paper right now but I'd like to record them in a lovely keepsake like this.
The Tale of the First Smile
There are soooo many tales...but would love to record all the trips and the firsts!
i don't know, i'd give this to my SIL to use for herself and son. I know she'd love it.
This would make a great baby gift! My favorite "tail" tale was when our first son, at about 18 months old after reading "Animal Tails" with his Dad said, "Our no have tails, our have butts!" (We don't have tails, we have butts)
The first tooth, first time calling me or my husband, and first steps.
first words :)
first vacation with the family!
I would love to give this to my friend who is about to have her first child she can record all of her daughter's firsts, like the first visit from Auntie Carissa.
would love to record our new little girl's adventures...this sounds great, what a unique way to record the little tales and moments in life!
I just found my sons babybook and yes, only the first few pages made out well. Maybe we can do better next time around with this.
OMG How cute is that!!?
this is super cute!
Don't have any tales yet to record.
First hard fall today and got large goose egg on head...mommy felt terrible of course! We took a picture to record the traumatic head bump..but he was all ok after some cuddling with mommy and Backyardigans.
thanks
