Oh, the litter box...those of us with feline pals know that it's a small price to pay for kitten kisses, but that doesn't make it any less of a hassle. The other day at the store, we noticed a new (to us anyway) type of litter: Tidy Cats for Small Spaces. What makes this litter so special?
According to their website, the Tidy Cats Small Spaces blend is full of "special power pieces" that neutralize odors upon first contact with moisture. They also claim that their trademarked TIDY LOCK Technology is virtually clump and dust free. All this and there is apparently no overwhelming perfume scent.
Has anyone tried this miracle litter? Is it truly the cat's pajamas?

I've tried this litter and it smells...wierd. For some reason it's almost as though it's too powerful and it amplifies some other kind of smell. I've had really good luck with the arm and hammer small space clumping litter!
I have tried this and many others.. YUCK. and it tracks all over the place. I have found that the most amazing and fantastic litter EVER is the silica crystal kind. It has no scent, and sucks the moisture out of solids so quickly the smell dissapears in about 3 minutes. I use a generic brand.. can't remember the name now. The litter looks like giant rock salt crystals. Oh, and since the crystals are so big they don't track!
I have used this litter for about 2 years now. When I had only one cat and had to keep the litter box in the dinning area, it worked really great to mask the smell. It has its own scent, which I agree with Maxwell, is wierd but it was much better than the regular pee smell. Now that I have moved and gained another kitty, I found that it isnt masking the smell like it used to. I now keep the litter box inside of a small closet that is keep closed and has a cat door as the only source of air flow. This litter does clump very well though.
I absolutely HATE Tidy Cat litter. It turns almost black when wet and then it gets tracked thru the apt. One thing it's not is TIDY.
I use (and LOVE!) Feline Fresh. It's the only clumping litter I'll use and it eliminates odor. I have 3 cats in a small studio and if you didn't see the cats you wouldn't know I have them.
Tidy Cat bites - it doesn't clump the tee-tee and, like anne said, it turns black. It is the WORST cat litter in terms of releasing those AMMONIA fumes - I can't stand to clean it. The litter I use was recommended by the girl at the pet store - Pet Supermarket - and it's called Ever Clean ( http://www.everclean.com/ ). It doesn't have that dust that comes up when you scoop and it's the first litter I have ever tried that doesn't smell like ammonia. (That smell is made with the pee oxidizes with, whatever-it-is-I-forget, in the cat litter.) I ran out of litter and it was too late to go to the pet store so I bought Tidy Cats down at the store a block from my house (all they had) and I swore that I would never use it again.
Can anyone comment on Swheat Scoop? (http://www.swheatscoop.com/ ) I'd like to buy eco-friendly cat litter, but not if it'll make my whole apartment smelly.
After several years, several brands of litter, and several litter box of all shapes and sizes, this is all I can offer: The best way to keep your place from smelling like cat poo is to clean the litter box more often. It's as simple as that.
I had to use Swheat Scoop recently when my cat was treated for hyperthyroidism (you have to flush the litter because it's radioactive - long story about why flushing and contaminating the water is 'better' than tossing in the garbage). I had three concerns. First it tracks something awful and if you walk around barefoot the tracked pieces are pointy and painful. Second it was stinky. It had a very peculiar odor that I found to be unpleasant. It was particularly bad during the warm summer. Third, my husband is in the trades and he really feels that anything that is meant to absorb moisture by clumping shouldn't be flushed, no matter what it says on the bag. he feels that you're asking for trouble - maybe not right away but eventually. I agree that I'd like to find more eco-friendly cat litter, but I just wish there was one that didn't have these issues.
Scooping every day is definitely key. Since there's nowhere to really tuck the box out of the way, we also do a once-a-week full litter changeout.
Finally: Fresh Step with Cedar. Uses cedar's natural odor and moisture absorption and it smells like fresh cedar after scooping. I'm a big fan.
I used Swheat Scoop a few times and agree with Tobermory. In addition I thought it clumped rather weirdly. It got really heavy, took me twice as long to scoop, and it almost was sticky. Gross!!! Also, Swheat Scoop recommended that you scoop twice a day, which I definitely do not do.
I use the Tidy Cat Small Spaces and it does mask the pee scent, but it has a weird perfumy-like aroma. It is odd. And it does turn black too, but that takes a few days, at least for me. It's ok, not the best. But better than the regular Tidy Cat, in my opinion.
Wow, I had no idea there were so many Tidy Cat haters out there! I have been using "Small Spaces" for about 2 years now and it's the best one for my cats. Whenever I try switching to other ones (like Fresh Step or Arm and Hammer) the smell is noticeably worse and the cats even seem annoyed. We scoop every other day and I have never been bothered by the smell of the ammonia.
I'm a big fan of Feline Pine, made from compressed sawdust. While it does not clump [the pine pellets break down and absorb the urine], there is no nasty or perfumy odor since it is just wood- and it masks any cat urine smell. I get some occasional tracking, but since I have wood floors, the addition of a little sawdust is no big deal. I just scoop out the solids every evening and change the box every two weeks. Sometimes my friends with compost piles take the contents [minus solids of course] and use it for their piles since it's 100% wood.
I just signed up so I can comment on how bad Swheat Scoop is. It just plain sucks. It has a funky odor (even before the cat gets in it), the clumps are sticky, and it tracks much worse than conventional litter. And while experiences will vary, my cat absolutely hated it and decided to use the fireplace instead of the litter box with Swheat Scoop in it.
I also use the Feline Pine, and it's been the best for my beastie. It doesn't track as much as other litter I tried, and I have no problems with smell. Of course, I scoop the poop pretty much every day.
I use Everclean and it's the best I've used so far. Not stinky, clumps good, and doesn't track dust all over. Schweat Scoop sounds like Worlds Best Cat Litter - which I tried and HATED!! Do not buy it unless you have a basement or a long way from the litter box to anything the cat will jump on. It is extremely dusty! I live in a 2 bedroom apt. with wood floors and frequently wear black pants - that dust was EVERYWHERE!!
Ever Clean is by far the BEST litter I have ever used, in my long career of having cat companions. With regular scooping (which is key with any litter), you only change it once a month for one cat, with small additions of additional litter throughout the month as needed. Doesn't smell at all.
Wow. I'm surprised at so many negative reactions to Sweat Scoop. First and foremost, however, I HATE tidy cat, and I HATE Ever Clean, and well, actually I can't stand any of the NON "natural" or "eco-friendly" litters. Mostly I hate the way they all smell. They all have this really strong perfume scent. I hate the smell of room deodorizers, cleaning products, and air fresheners. They give me a headache.
Plus, I'm really paranoid about my cats health and safety, and I like to be " green" with my kitties too.
I've had really good luck with Sweat Scoop, but then my box is in an enclosed cupboard so I might just be really lucky there. I have read that if you spray the pan with a light mist of cooking oil it helps with that heavy sticky thing. But I don't bother.
I do however clean my cat box everyday. I have one cat that gets urinary blockages so I scoop every day at about the same time to... well make sure he's peeing the same amount everyday. It's a health thing.
If you really want to go green but don't like Sweat Scoop there's also World's Best corn litter (tho' it might also have the heavy sticky thing.) And there's also Nature's Miracle. It's basically corn with Nature's Miracle added in. Since I use Nature's Miracle to get any stains out I used this for a while and it worked terrific. I only switched because it also had a bit of a scent to it. I really mean I HATE scented freshening smells.
As far as disposing. I don't flush. My old toilet would never handle it. It already clogs too easily. I was using plastic grocery bags for a while but in my efforts to REALLY go green I started using small paper grocery bags as recommended on the box. So far, no smells and no problem.
I have to agree cleaning every day is probably the key.
i don't use kitty litter.
my siamese is potty trained. perfect solution!
I scoop several times a day and everybody is happier for it. (I also flush every time I go to the/my toilet -- but whatever, I have a hard time understanding why anybody would leave the cat's business in the box indefinitely.)
Kitty and I both love, love, love the Nature's Miracle
http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Control-Clumping-Litter/dp/B0007D1WAC
it's more expensive, but is small and not painful to her paws, absorbs the urine and smell, coats the poo so it's not messy to scoop up. Sure it tracks, but I vac regularly and keep a hand vac by her box. Big plus is it's totally eco-safe both on the environment and on her (clays and everything perfumed or high-teched to be something gets inhaled (by both of you) and licked off eventually by the cat.)
big d - that option has always fascinated me, could you share more? What product did you use, and how long did it take? Were there any problems along the way?
i'm glad others love ever clean as much as i do - the BEST litter out there!!
mella DP -
I bought the citikitty - http://www.citikitty.com/
I followed the instructions and used a lot of flushable kitty litter (believe me, don't do it for a while. my toilet's been having problems ever since.)
after about six weeks, your cat will be fine. unless it's obese. a friend of mine has a rather large himalayan who can't climb up on a bed or a toilet to save his life. with siamese cats, they're rather stubborn but curious so with a lot of coaxing (and begging) they pick up really quick. mine was trained in about three weeks.
now..just to teach him how to flush...
I'm curious if anyone out there has used the Clever Cat litter box that has the top entry? I just called my pet store and they highly recommended this - currently sold out at our location here in Seattle it's so popular.
It takes space, but I can't recommend the litter robot enough. This is not a crappy (couldn't resist) automated litterbox with rakes that get stuck in the cat waste. Instead, it is a dome that sits on top of the drawer. The dome has a series of screens in it. A few minutes after the cat does his business, the dome rotates, and the clumped waste falls into the drawer. You line the drawer with a bag, and periodically open the drawer to remove the bag. The box is always perfectly clean, but I only have to intervene once a week or so.
http://www.litter-robot.com/
The movie really is worth it...
http://www.litter-robot.com/litter-robot-demonstration.aspx
The litter robot can use any clumping litter (I've used every kind...now since the robot is so great, we use the least expensive type we can find).
ah yes! i've heard about the litter robot and definitely considered it, but we just don't have the space for it. thanks though!
I have the Clever Cat top entry litter box. In use since they first came out. The cats like it. It keeps the dog out. I recommend it.
I have the lid off of it right now because I have a dying cat. She can't manage it with the lid on.
I use Tidy Cats litter without any problems. After reading the complaints here, I'm wondering why I don't have any problems with it. :0D
I agree about the Crystals. I use the Target brand and scoop every day (I have two cats and two litter boxes). It sucks the moisture and smell out of everything and is so much less duesty than clumping litter.
It may not be for everyone, though. I guess some cats don't like the crystals, but luckily my cats took right to it.
The container indicates that one jug shoud last a month, but I change it out about every two weeks.
I have used the Clever Cat box for almost four years now, and it's great. My cat gets her privacy and I don't have to look at her litter. The box also keeps tracking down to a minimum, and the liners mean that changing litter is a breeze - I just tie off the bag and toss it once a week. New bag, new litter, and the whole box is clean and fresh in less than five minutes. Seriously, cannot recommend this box highly enough. Here is the link:
http://www.clevercatinnovations.com
The only "minus" is that the liners are kind of pricey ($29.99 for 40) but 40 liners last about 9 months, so I'm willing to pay. Also, I use Tidy Cat litter (one bag per week) and have been very happy with it.
why the hell would anyone want litter that doesn't clump???
I use Tidy Cat - the one with the green lid (sorry, can't remember the exact name). I'm really only using it out of habit and convenience. I used pine litter for awhile, but I can't remember now why I went back to Tidy Cat... Anyway, I am reading these comments with interest because I would really like to switch to a litter that doesn't track EVERYWHERE (and is a little more natural).
I use the Multi-cat version of Schweat Scoop with some Nature's miracle litter treatment. It clumps very well and smells fine (for a little box).
My problem isn't with the litter itself...it's with my smelly cat. Sometimes he has particulary odorous bowel movements, and also an ocassional nasty-smelling flatus. I feed him a combination of canned and good-quality dry food. Anyone know if there is something cats do or don't eat to help them produce less pungeant poops?
A litter robot is the most fantastic thing for cat owners, ever! The litter gets "automatically scooped" as often as needed, the drawer that collects the waste is easy to line with ordinary garbage bags and a snap to clean.
Tidy Cat is nasty smelling right out of the bag and the one bag I bought went right back out the door within seconds after being opened.
I tried Swheat Scoop and it definitely has some benefits for those living in small spaces. The ability to flush it was the reason why i bought it, save the trip out to the dumpster to toss the cat poopy bag every night. I never had a problem with it flushing, didn't seem to cause any blockages.
The main problem was that my cat had diabetes so she peeped too often and too much to use this letter. It was really wet and heavy and gave off a gross sour yogurt smell. I think I would have preferred the ammonia smell.
It seems like if you had a small (healthy) cat and you were a fastidious litter box cleaner it would work out well for those concerned with using a more harsh litter.
I've tried the small spaces one and it smelled weird. I usually used the multiple cats one even though I only have one cat. I think it was slightly more powerful but not an overpowering scent.
I switched to feline pine and that worked really well. It eliminated the dust problem and there was minimal tracking. It also smelled alot better!
i've been using the clevercat for a while and i LOVE it-- i have 2, one for each cat. it keeps the litter tracking to a minimum, they can't throw litter out of the box when they dig.
i used to use The World's Best cat litter and while i liked it, it didn't clump very well, was sticky, and tracked EVERYWHERE! the tracking was really a problem for me. then my cats got coccidia, so i switched to tidy cats multiple cat and that works well to mask the smell. i'm interested in maybe switching to the crystals-- are they about as cheap as tidy cats? do most cats seem to like them? anything else to add that might induce me to switch?
I hate all the clay litters - they smell like a chemical toilet to me! Unfortunately we have to use it for our boy cat, but it stays in the basement (he lives there when we aren't home due to an unfortunately peeing incident that we don't want repeated).
My other cat had been put through the paces as her box is upstairs with us. The crystals were good for smell, but when they did track they HURT to step on (and I don't think she appreciated that either).
We've stuck to Feline Pine Scoopable now and it seems to work well. Tracks a little, but not dusty, and the pine scent is less offensive than the clay/chemical toilet. Makes me think of a hamster cage (clean, not dirty) every time I walk by, but oh well!
I'm a Feline Pine converter as well. I used to use World's Best Kitty Litter, but switched to the pine pellets because my cats would get white footprints all over the apartment and I didn't want the same problem when moving into a new place with hardwood floors. The pine does a great job of killing the ammonia pee smell, BUT you have to scoop the poop immediately. This is not a problem for me because I scoop daily and since the pee just breaks the pellets into sawdust, this remains a relatively easy system.
If I could, I would get the sifting litterbox which separates the Pine Pellets from the broken down sawdust, but my Special Needs cat HAS to have a giant rubbermaid container (with an entry cut out the side) as his litterbox. I have a secondary "Clever Cat" box in a spare bathroom, which my other cat SOMETIMES uses but they both prefer the giant box instead.
Some people have complained that their cats turn the pine pellets into toys they scatter all over the apartment, but I've never had that problem and this is the most economical, stinky-minimum, lightweight and environmentally friendly litter I've ever used.
Also a thumbs up on the CleverCat box heard about it here. I tend to use whatever clumping litter is on sale - cat doesn't seem to mind. The only litter he's hated, evidenced by his stinking outside the box, was an eco-brand I picked up at Trader Joe's.
I second the vote for silica litter. It does a fabulous job of dryign things out. Just don't get the ones that are little spheres - go for the giant crystals. The spehers bounce and roll on hard surfaces. In our old apt it made it to all rooms of a 2 bedroom with hardwood floors in less than a day. The other kind track a little but don't smell.
I have been experimenting with different litter for awhile now. I currently am using Nature's Miracle and I have no plans to test anything else. It clumps well and has an ok smell - I'd have to guess cedar. I didn't like the clay litters because it's strip mined and I was also concerned about my cats developing "clay lung". You know how dusty it gets when you pour and scoop clay litter - think about your cat inhaling that everytime they go to the bathroom. I highly recommend that anyone still using clay litters switch to Nature's Miracle or Feline Pine.
I've been using Feline Pine for a decade. You do want to scoop right away (good lord, kitty!) , and some of it will get outside the box, but sweeping up a few pine pellets and sawdust is no big deal. I like the fact that it's just pine and not full of weird stuff.
(by "some of it will get outside the box", I just mean the feline pine)
Silica litter is very dangerous to cats. Cats groom themselves and therefore ingest anything they step on or that sticks to their paws and body. Silicone is poisonous and can build up in their systems over time.
Good old fashioned clay litter is safe but you can't flush it.
World's best is better than Swheat scoop and the extra strength/ multi cat World's Best produces far less dust than the regular. It is not the best for clumping but it's sufficient and safe.
Feline Pine is great for odor control but does not clump so it depends on which is a higher priority- easier cleaning or better smelling.
Can't recommend the Litter Robot enough- it is fantastic for odor control and daily cleaning takes under 2 minutes.
I've tried just about all the sand/clumping litters and the crystals. Problems ran the gamut from dust, smells from the litter itself, the litter not absorbing smells from the urine or fecal matter, clumps that fell apart, tracking all over the house.... someone here (can't remember who, but thank you!) recommended a 1/2 and 1/2 mix of Nature's Miracle and World's Best and I have to say I'm really pleased. I scoop once or twice a day for two cats and it never smells beyond the fresh, woody smell of the litter.
My son found this tray for the cats to step on as they exit the box and it really keeps the litter from tracking:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/oceandreamer56/2822672392/
I hate Tidy Cat litters. All clay litters, no matter what you do, have a distinct "litter box" smell to them. There are many issues that I disagree with using a clay litter to, those being they are not biodegradable and they pose a health risk to both the cats and humans breathing in the dust. Not to mention that most of the odor control clay litters are scented, which can often be the cause of a cat avoiding the litter box. As far as the automatic litter boxes that scoop themselves, they are too small. Between the size and the noise, litter box avoidance is also an issue there. Litter liners are also frequently associated with litter box avoidance. Litter boxes should not be there for the convenience of the owner, and a lot of the products put out there for convenience purposes are the cause of cats deciding to pee on the rug, or the bed. *End rant...*
I used Feline Pine pellets for a few years and was satisfied with the lack of odor, but it was a pain to clean out the pee. We recently switched to World's Best Cat Litter and I *love* it. I never smell the litter box and I find that it clumps nicely as long as the litter is kept at 2-3 inches deep. We use an under-bed storage container for a litter box, so it's nice and big. I only have to dump it every 3-4 weeks so long as I scoop it 1-2 times daily.
i use world's best cat litter in my cat's box of shit. i don't scoop twice a day like some (more like twice a week) but I think it works really good, tho more scoopin' would probably make it last a lot longer.
I use Tidy Cat Crystals Blend---it is really better then the other choices Tidy Cat offers. It does cost about 1 buck more then the other choices. Have not found another that I really like more.
I've used the small spaces litter and I have to agree with the pp about the ammonia smell. Our kitten tracks the stuff everywhere- we find it all over our 1st floor. We really haven't noticed any improvement with eliminating the smell, especially when the cat poops.
I hate Tidy Cat, but it's the only brand my girls will use consistently. They put up with Feline Pine very briefly, which was great for me because it clumped so well, but after a few months they suddenly decided that it would be better to go on the floor just outside the box. I guess they get closer to the stuff than I do, anyway...
I use World's Best Kitty Litter. It's made from cedar flakes and it smells wonderful. I forget we even have a box (three boxes). It doesn't clump. I hate clumping and it's not hard to clean up. Though our cats really love to kick it out of the box.
I've used Fresh Step Crystals for years. The best hands down for getting rid of odor. Have tried other crystals cat litters, nothing tops it for getting rid of odors.
I've used Tidy Cat for Small Spaces ever since it's been available in my area. My house is 2208 sq ft so it's not really all that small. However, I have five cats (three of them LARGE males) and this is the best cat litter I've ever used for controlling odors. Now if I could just figure out how to stop the furballs from training litter all over . . .
I also use Swheat Scoop with minimal problems. I have the litterbox in an as out-of-the-way spot as possible in my tiny apartment; the litterbox is covered, so the tracking can only go in one direction; and there's a litter catcher at the foot of the litterbox. I still need to vacuum at least once a week, but living in as small an apartment as I do, I have to vacuum that often anyway. I also don't find the smell to be that bad, and in the summer, when I keep my windows open all day, I don't smell it at all.
After reading about it on this site (IIRC), I tried World's Best. A while afterward, one or both of our cats started to pee outside the box(es) (not on rugs or furniture, thank goodness, on the floor of the unfinished basement where the litter boxes are). Not all the time, but there is no tolerable level of this!
I'm still not sure what caused it--ironically, we had FINALLY started a much-needed Cure on the basement, so they might have just been "enjoying" the additional floor space. We were also out of town more than usual.
A visit to the vet ruled out medical issues, and after some desperate online research we discovered Cat Attract litter. We just implemented the new program last week (new and more boxes--four now for two cats; Feliway plug-in, and Cat Attract) and so far, so good. The Cat Attract really seems to work--the box with that gets by far the most use now. Fingers crossed!
Silica litter is very dangerous to cats. Cats groom themselves and therefore ingest anything they step on or that sticks to their paws and body. Silicone is poisonous and can build up in their systems over time.
Silica, silica gel and silicone are NOT the same thing. Silica is sand, silicon dioxide. It's not particularly absorbent. Silica gel, which some cat litter is made of, is sodium silicate. Alone, it is non-toxic. Sometimes it is colored, and the coloring can be toxic. Silicone is an organic polymer with a silicon-oxide backbone. It has extremely low absorbency. Despite numerous lawsuits, silicone has never been shown to be toxic.
Honestly, I'll use this litter when it's on sale, but it's my second favorite - the first being Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat Cat Litter. There's just something about the baking soda in it that makes it smell...well...like baking soda instead of kitty turds.
My guy was (RIP Alley Cat!) pretty laid back and would go anywhere, so he took to Feline Pine with no problem. Trader Joe's has a store brand version that's just the same and only $3.00 a bag (at least here in Ohio). I'd never go back to clay litters.
we've used pretty much everything over the years -- every clumping one on the market, the crystals... in our small apartment, and later homes, we were never happy with the tracking and smell.
We have been using "yesterday's news" for years, and wouldn't use anything else. It's green (used newspapers), non-toxic, doesn't track and doesn't smell. Great stuff!
We love it so much, that a good part of our precious overseas shipment was cat litter, since you can't get it here (we left lots of stuff in storage just to bring it!)
It was just a Canadian product for years, but now has been bought by Purina, so it is in wide distribution.
http://www.yesterdaysnews.com/catLitter.html?D=901436&T=4562507
Finally a mention of Yesterday's News!
I've been using it for years, and couldn't be happier with it. I get the unscented version and it works like a charm.
It isn't a clumper, but an absorber.
My cat is a bit too fastidious about burying her business, and when using clay/clumping litter, threw and tracked it all over my apartment. As soon as I changed to a Booda dome litterbox and the Yesterday's News I didn't have to deal with the perfumey crap smell or the tracking. My apartment was a small 550sqft, and I only had to deal with changing it once a week, with no daily maintenance.. and I am sensitive to smells!
I've used Tidy Cats Small Spaces for a long time now because I live in a very small space. I do have to admit that it gets tracked around the apartment, but if it is cleaned out regularly and the box is changed every 2 weeks, I haven't had any problems with odors or non-clumping.
I have tried other litters with my cats. My older cat will use about anything as long as it's clean, while my younger cat is VERY picky. She wouldn't use Feline Pine, crystals, crystal blends or these weird pearl-like beads that I found (basically crystals that are rounded). Every time I would switch, she started using the floor instead.
I am very interested in the World's Best Cat Litter. I watched the demo on their website and got a little grossed out that the guy ate it...but if it works, I think it would be great to try!
I use ExquisiCat litter and it's cheep and easy. However the lifesaver is my litter box is a Littermaid. I don't have to scoop no more! I only empty the poo box once a week. No smells!
I've been using the new Breeze system to fabulous results.
Ive been using the ScoopFree system which incorporates the Fresh Step crystals -- absorbs urine and the box rakes the poop away). A wonderful combo! www.scoopfree.com (if you aren't familiar with the product)
I have two male kittens. (8 months old now) I started them on 'special kitty' cat litter because it was the cheapest, but it was horribly dusty, and did nothing for the smell. It was also a horrible tracker.
I use tidy cats, multipul cat instant action cat litter and it's fine, but it tracks, and does not do anything for the smell.
I tried to get them to use "World's Best" because 'I' like it, it doesn't smell, and the tracking is okay, but my cats won't use it. I tried in their main litter box, mixed with their old litter, and in their spare litter box, which they just like to pee in. They wouldn't use their spare box, and they didn't like it in their main box.
I hate the dust in clay cat litters, but that seems to be what the cats like.
I do have a small maybe 800 sqft 2brm apartment, and I really have to find something that will take care of the smell to the small place. I'm at ends...
We were just out buying yet another bag o'cat litter this morning and can't find the crappy Tidy Cat clay litter we usually tolerate. . .errrr. . . purchase. Seems many of the stores are discontinuing it, as we usually purchase it where we can find the best prices. We continue to be blown away by the price of cat litter. It drives us nuts. We are down to one kitty (older kitty passed away), however we swear he is a poop machine. We have tried every type of cat litter, with little or no success. Stay away from the Arm & Hammer "Natural" clumping litter. It stinks to high heaven and tracks all over the house. We are tree huggers and are doing our best to decrease our carbon footprint, so we are now trying Feline Pine. Thanks to all the advice here, we are going to try CitiKitty and see if our 17 year old cat will take to that. Keep your fingers crossed! We are really unhappy with the whole cat litter scenario, so if this works. . . .hallelujah!!!
