Ceramic or metal tile holds up to heat, which makes it ideal for a fireplace surround. Plus, tile offers a lot more opportunity to customize your hearth than the standard brick fireplace frame. Contemporary tile companies sell everything from tile that mimics wallpaper to stainless steel surrounds.

Nomade Express Slee...
These fireplaces are beauties! Bertram Architects recently redid a fireplace that I am in love with. Wouldn't you love to visit this Hollywood Hills home?

I love the first four. The others are kinda boring to me.
Love the concrete tile for fireplaces. Whole bunch of beauties here:

That third picture is ghastly.
Just wanted to let your viewers know about another contemporary dimensional tile option that offers a stunning effect without the cost of Heath-www.mod-craft.com/installations
I love the first two fireplaces. On the second photo, it looks like the tile is ceramic but imitating metal, which by the way is beautiful and cheaper than actually metal tiles. Also using 3D stainless steel tiles on fireplaces is a nice way to give some texture and warm up a modern room.
